Running in the first race of the new SCCA National Super Sweep, Stan Czacki finished 2nd to current SSB National Champion Lee Niffenegger. Stan also qualified 2nd to Lee, 2:09.8 to 2:09.0 on the 16 turn California Sports Car Club course at Buttonwillow. A problem shifting into third caused Stan to drop to fourth place at the start but he was able to get back to 2nd by mid distance and despite the close qualifying times could not get near enough to Lee to mount a challenge. "It's frustrating to be able to see the leader but not be able to gain on him, but with our third gear shifting problem, we need to be happy with this result". Prospects for tomorrow's race two are not bright as we were not able to do much other than drain the synchro shavings and put in fresh oil.......will report tomorrow or Monday on our way back to Elephant Butte.

Great racing Stan......the momentum is in your favor for a great year. Looking forward to your update and comments from Buttonwillow.

We are all proud to have such a fine Team Pan Am Club Racer like Stan Czacki. He is certainly a mentor for all local club racers. We wish him well in his quest for an SCCA National Championship at Road America this fall of 2009.
