Hows it going you guys?
Im new to this forum, and new to the SCCA.
Ive been a member for two years now and finally got my own race car. Its a 1984 Rabbit GTI.
This car ran in the ITB class for many years. I had a few questions, as I am putting it back together to race for road courses.
It was involved in a small wreck at Summit Point almost 10 years ago. The necessary repairs included:
-new passenger front fender
-pulled out metal on inner fender
-new radiator support/front nose
-pulled/straightened impact tube (looks like an accordion from the factory)
The only thing that still shows some damage is the collapsible tube which the bumper bolts into. It was pulled out and straightened professionally, but there are still some kinks in the metal. Will this fail?
For some reason, the previous owners friend removed the rollcage from the car. It is an Autopower bolt in kit. There was a section that was hack sawed in half. This has since been welded back together, but I was curious if this would pass the tech inspection.
Any guys out there with this car have any suggestions? Sorry for all the questions, I figured I would just spit them all out at once...
Thanks in advance!
