    I played around in club racing years back but now I want to get serious about it. I want to turn my Z06 into a dedicated track car and race SCCA. It is mostly stock, except for a twin turbo kit which I will pull off (is there a class that will let me run it?). I am trying to figure out what I can do to the car and what classes it will put me in. It seems T1 is where the C5Z's tend to be. Can I gut the interior, run headers, change brakes? Should I dump the C5 and get a C6? Can someone direct me to a FAQ? All answers much appreciated!

    Having done some more research, T1 doesn't appeal to me. I'd prefer taking it to the next level and going ASP (I like the idea of keeping the long block stock but bolt on mods being ok). Are the C5Z's still competitive in this class?

    Are you talking Club Racing or Autocross? If club racing then what is ASP?

    In Club Racing you have two choices with a C5. You can run T1 or STO (Super Touring O).

    Ok, yes STO does seem to be where I want to fall. I found an old thread on a corvette forum discussing ASP but I think that is auto-x. I want to club race.

    I would check out the Super Touring section under club racing. Also depending on where you are located you might want to try to find if there is someone running STO with a Vette. The C5 would make a excellent STO car. Also on the SCCA site you can download the GCR which has the complete STO rules as to what you can and can't do. For example the Turbo's would have to go, but you can gut the interior and swap brakes. Plus quite a bit of other stuff.

    Since the C6 and Viper's are in that class, wouldnt a C5 get clobbered? Or do they have to run 60mm restrictor plates? Does that really even things up or are the C6 suspensions more advanced?
