Hmmmm
85 pre-registered
Weather forecast right now say not only rain but lightening about 3 pm
OK we all need to blow all our hot air out tomorrow am to push the lightening away
Who wants to bet on total entry count for event 2?
PS: read the article in life style of today's Post on the Go St. Louis Marathon - the directors of this events have weather concerns like we do. Heat, lightening, ect. Interesting. |

I was about to post on this same subject but more in terms of when should rescheduling the event be considered. The various computer models usually vary widely but most seem to indicate this could be a far more widespread and volatile system than usual. Hopefully they are correct in that the worst should not arrive until late afternoon and I agree that out of FA by 3pm should be the target and earlier if radar returns indicate severe weather will be arriving earlier than that. Which brings me back to the first sentence - when should it be rescheduled. I have no problem running in the rain but large hail and tornadoes drastically reduce the fun factor.
I know this will be considered heresy by some but thought I should throw it out there for all to consider. I'm planning on being there but I think everyone should be prepared for a hasty retreat/early exit if conditions permit. Just sayin'.

I just looked at the weather channel and it says 3pm also. I concur with Mike, we will need to keep an eye on the radar throughout the day. We will have to adjust accordingly as what the weather brings us.
On the upside, when I checked the weather channels forecast late last night it was showing 40 - 60% chance of thunderstorms starting a 6am going throughout the whole day. So the forecast is way better then it was last night, keep the prayers coming for a storm free event for all of you of faith! ;-)
Cheers,

No second-guessing by me - honest, because I know it's a tough call. I think as the day unfolds it will become more apparent what to expect as far as time lines are concerned as well as the potency and nature of this system. Hopefully it will lose some punch by tomorrow and not arrive until late in the day. Fingers crossed.
P.S. It's the Subaru guys and their rain dance IMO. LOL |

I would not have a problem with rescheduling due to imminent severe weather. But it's St Louis, if we wait for the forecast to be perfect we'll be waiting a long time. I'm planning on showing up. Too bad we're not at Gateway, at least there the grandstands, drag tunnel, etc. can give some protection from the hail in a pinch. Family Arena is just a big open lot with no protection anywhere
The weather channel is saying 10% chance until ~2-3pm which is enough to get 100 cars through 3-4 runs |

The lot facility does not usually cancel and if we cancel we pay the fee anyway.
Did you see that the Go St. Louis Marathon cancelled today and is on for tommorrow
Is this the fun part of autocrossing? hahahaha
Only kidding! |

Yeah, I tried to buy a new SUV the other day with some of those big bucks, they laughed...something about "funny money"
Actually, as I just told the chiefs in an email this 2012 team is awsome.
"Our chiefs crew has always been great, but this year you all are even better than GREAT. There are awesome! THANKS THANKS THANKS for all the hard work and you all deserve milllions $$$$$$$$$"

What concerns me is if we get a full heat in and then have to stop due to the skies and since we have to be off the lot by 4 then we've had folks who have wasted a whole day in the rain and didn't even get a chance to drive. Personally I'm feeling less than motivated to stand out in the rain all day. :( |

NOAA weather forecast for St Charles
Sunday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 80. Breezy, with a south wind between 17 and 23 mph, with gusts as high as 34 mph.
Windy, but otherwise sounds like a pretty normal day to me. |

Great - what happened to the rule you don't talk about in racing forums.... you don't talk about weather before the event. Everyone here has probably jinxed events the rest of the year for St. Louis weather. ;)
I fully expect the exact opposite of what everyone thinks will happen tomorrow. Do we hold events for Thundersnow? Or maybe a quarry sandstorm tornado now.
If frogs fall from the sky I'm going home. |

For the record, Ive autocrossed in Monsoon rains, where the course was washed away,..... Blistering heat of 102+, Sleet, and Snow in ATLANTA...and Dust storms where tumbleweeds were a random and moving additional course element! It will be fine, we will prevail ! FUN will be had by all. |
