I know the marathon is tomorrow is that going to be a problem getting into the coliseum?

A gazillion thank-you's for pointing this out! Towing the Batcave to the event, I would have driven straight into the heart of their course coming off of Stewart Ave. with limited space to turn the trailer around. Guess I'll have to stay on Glen Cove/Clinton all the way down to Hempstead Turnpike and then make a left. Here's the course map:

http://www.run-li.com/2011/assets/images/coursemaplg.jpg

According to their web site, they will be closing the roads at 7:30 AM for a six hour duration. Since the start is on the north side of the Coliseum, hopefully they will open the roads near us once the last runners clear them.

Please, lord, let the Coliseum have the Hempstead Turnpike (south side) main gate open for us tomorrow, because I might have to crash it to turn around if it is closed and I don't make it there before 7:30 AM.....

Remember that there are red light cameras surrounding the property. I expect the side entrance to the Coliseum to be open as usual.

It's going to be a good one. Almost half of those entries are STX as well.

Joe, wasn't your Miata a ST car?

Because of the door bars and no soft top its not really a STR car so I was being bumped to DP this year lol. He is going to be running novice as it is his 2nd auto x. He told me he put the soft top back in so I told him to run STR novice but it was to late.

It is much better this year. We only swept between heats yesterday. Last Fall we were also taking breaks in a heat for some sweeping. Obviously, getting off line is very punishing when that happens.

It was like that at HPT where 2008 & 2009 Nationals were held. It was like ice skating once you were off line.

Looks like I will pay a vist to one of your events soon.

In June i SWEAR i'll get there early enough to help setup... and to do some sweeping ahead of time. as long as street tire cars run in the first heat, it does help a bit it seems.

I thought HP was bringing up sand on the driving line as well. I think that's the point where the lot is now. The large stuff is pretty much gone. It will be great seeing you and Keiko back on the Island again.

Missing a post from last night I though I put up...

Issues to fix:

#713 was being run by 2 cars

77 STX - interior removal

708 NSTR - interior removal, possible fuel cell.

76 DP - reclass to GP.

Correct Tim Wu's name/car/#

Some folks have identical times for two runs (not concerned by the ones that show 9 runs but that some have identicals in runs 7 and 8).

I have to review my Vids again, but I could swear I ran 2 53s in the AM, both dirty, so that does not affect final standings, but Keith in the R32 was in front of me and he was running 51s and his times look ok. Hmmm? Maybe I was hoping for faster times and my mind was playing tricks.

Great time guys. The course was pretty tough with all of the transitions and directional changes. That last slalom was AWESOME. Definitely love the idea of an optional slalom with that amount of cones to F with you, lol. Big thanks to Joe O. for that last instructor run who's line helped me knock 2 seconds off my next run (albeit dirty.)

Glad I was able to help Joe. Your brz is going to be a great car to build your skills man.

What slalom? I went to the left of the first cone wall, and the remainder of the course into the finish was a long, full-throttle sweeper.

Kudos to Randy and Jon for having the courage to create a course that separated the men from the boys. There were several places on the course where the two options each presented different benefits, and it wasn't clear which way would be better until you tried both. Definitely a national-style course, both in speeds and the available options from not marking mandatory slaloms or obviously correct options. I know that the school of thought at regional (local) events is to err on the side of caution and over-mark / over-simplify everything to keep the novices out of trouble, but this course showed that it can be done without creating the off-course fest that everyone expects. I just wish that I didn't bring the short-track car to the only C-Prepared course I've seen in many years.

Regarding the results, the double-times thing appears to have lost one of my three times, unless I was driving so consistently that I dialed up back-to-back identical times. Did you run "re-import staged timing data" before printing the results? That usually fixes flaky things like this.....

I loved the finish, but wish we had more run-off after the finish. I also did a left and flat through finish but skidded to a 20mph roll into paddock. It took me 3-4 runs to modulate the brakes past the finish so as not to scare myself anymore. Those spectators and parked cars worried me some. 2 months ago I was at GPNY and took off from the pits full throttle and it stuck. I plowed head on into the tire wall at about 20 mph at the first hairpin. Ouch! I also loved the optional slalom, but my buddy said I should have done a right instead of left start. My results indicated that I should have tried the right of first instead of just lefts. Also the LH sweeper was awesome, and I loved getting the car loose there and varying drift angles and lines at same time. Great course! Lots of fun!

car number #708 doesn't have a fuel cell. just gutted interior because the roll bar doesn't allow the interior to stay in.

I was left for all my runs on the first optional slalom and I did the left/right for the finish.
