I've currently got a set of Toyo 205/50 15 R888's I caught on sale last year, so I've been autocrossing on them and am pretty happy with them in the Louisiana heat. I know they're not ideal for autoX, but for the small amount of power my CRX is putting down they do better than my Star Specs. Now, I also picked up a set of used 225/45 15 Hankook C71's fairly cheap. I've been thinking about trying to run the Hankooks up front and keeping the Toyo's out back. Well, I figure that I would need the Hankooks to keep the power planted once I finish the turbo setup, but now I'm wondering if I would gain anything from tossing them on now. Running on a fairly rough, small asphalt lot. 450F/550R lb springs, no front sway and 22mm rear ST bar set to full stiff, running close to 3* of camber front and rear, zero toe. Also running factory limited-slip diff.

The car is very balanced with a hint of oversteer when induced as it sits, for reference. Just wondering how this will change the characteristics, and if it's a good idea.

Any ideas? I'm thinking about holding off and running the Toyo's until I finish the turbo install.

Your thread title is a little misleading. ;) You're staggering width, compound AND construction of the tire. It would be nearly impossible to predict how the car would respond to that many changes. I use staggered sizes and compounds on my DSP and now DS ITR, but both front and rear are still Hoosiers, so the internal construction is the same. That said, it can't hurt to try it. I would expect that the car would get a bit looser, but how much and what phase of the corner is hard to say.

I have tried a very aggressive staggered setup on my Saturn, but I doubt what you are talking about would work well.

245/40R17 Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3Ds on 17x9s on front
    185/65R14 Michelin X-Ices on 14x6s on back.

This didn't work too badly. Both are winter tires and work well cold. The handling balance of my springs and bars is also a bit more towards understeer.

I am pretty sure the R888s require more heat than the C71s, so if you want to mix them you would probably need to run the R888s on the front and the C71s on the back.
