Three of us registered so far in T1 on the first day. Nine in T2 and five in T3.

Two more in T1- up to five
1) Kyle Kelley
2) Tom Sloe
3) Jason Berkeley
4) Tim Hund
5) John Buttermore
I'm pretty sure Oli, Mike McGinley, Mike Pettiford, and Mike Waszak are going.
How about Norm Betts, Natha, any more west-coasters, Dave Sanders or any other NEDIV folks? |

I am not going specifically because I don't know what next year holds. If next year's rules package was the same as this year I would invest what it takes and try to make a run for the T1 win.
But why poor good money after questionably bad?

While I agree with you on many levels, it is still the one race to try and get as many racers from across the country in your class to race together at once. It is typically alot of fun, and if we get a large group together, can really be a blast.
It's at one of the greatest tracks in North America and will hopefully be a chance to actually enjoy our hobby of racing. |

IMHO not showing up would be the worst thing that could happen to T1 for those who want to keep the cars the way they are. The Runoffs is the big one and if T1 or any other class that is under the gun has a poor showing it adds ammo to those who are pushing consolidation in the current form. Plus the tent meeting should be eventful this year.

I agree 100%.........not showing up 'in protest' (to me) would not make sense. We have three events scheduled for this month and are planning on the Runoffs too............

It sounds like we might have the most cars we have had since the big race start debacle.

I would attend and represent C5s in T1 but the Runoffs are too far away and too long for me.
Have fun! |

They reduced it to three days for Q and racing for T1 this year, but you would need to come early for practice since you have never been on RA.
Iseley has a trailer spot and room for wheels and stuff for only $1,500. You can room with me.
Or just fly your F-16 in each morning, land on the front straight, run your session and fly back to Miramar. I bet they won't miss you.

The Runoffs are down to 3 days if you don't test. For T1 they Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Oli if we had enough flyable Hornets to do that I would!
Maybe one of these years, but I just can't take a week off right now. That's why I stick to the local weekend races. |

Cheyne-
That only works if your NOT on the Tuesday, Wed., Thursday schedule.
Everyone that doesn't live within a couple of hours will need to take Monday off to tow out at a minimum, and most likeley take Friday off to tow home (especially if your from California).
For T1, STO, SSB, SSC, FE, FM, and AS, we all get screwed and it's a week long event.
Funny- other than AS, these are all classes that the CRB / BOD have set for consolidation. I can't imagine that this was intentional in order to "artificially" have bad Runoffs attendance numbers in these classes in order to make it easier for the CRB / BOD to prove their case. Just another "silly coincidence," right? |

I would have thought that you guys would be happy. Come in over the weekend and book out on Thursday. No need to hang out the rest of the week unlike T3/T2 which race on Saturday and Sunday. I'm coming up to test the week before for 1 day, but then have to decide if I want to drive home or hang out at the track and waste a week's vacation since I'm not on the track again until Thursday.

You know you are screwed if they schedule the tent meeting for the day after the T1 race.

We still have to take a week of vacation, but now any friends or family that may have come out to watch on a weekend race or a Friday race for a long weekend are alot less likely to come. |

T1 = 6 T2 = 12 T3 = 7 SSB = 5 SSC = 8 (1 B-Spec) STO = 3 STU = 14 STL (STU) = 10 |

Just my opinion after making the observation of these registration totals....
How is consolidating classes going to help the totals on the previous post?
Even combining the classes the totals are still piss poor. Factor in the loss of the disenchanted and disefranchised drivers due to the benevolent reclassing process and the combined classes in 2013 will have fewer drivers than above I predict.
The BoD and the CRB perceives that drawing a new waterline mark higher up on the hull and we can all pretend the ship is not sinking. The focus on class consolidation is completely misdirected. All the efforts and dollars at SCCA should be on growing the classes and not consolidation.
I was told by a BoD member the SCCA does not have the resources to do that. If that is true, if I was emperor for a day in Topeka I would grab the org chart, do some quick interviews, figure out who I need on the team to singularly focus on meeting customer preferences, fire everyone else and then direct the extra dollars towards growing the club and meeting racer needs.
At this time nothing else matters. |

PS. I heard 2nd hand McGinley is not coming this year. He is mad and frustrated over the changes. He does not want to spend money either speeding up his car or slowing it down. If true, hopefully he will change his mind.
If we can change the minds on the BoD and the CRB then we will all be making progress. There is a group of us working on that. Please support us.
My requests for assistance in contacting T2 drivers has gone largely ignored. Please help me contact guys like Patel, MacNeil and the others... the guys driving the Porsches, BMWs and Mustangs.
PLEASE!!! |
