I'm coming in to Lincoln Thursday night before the Friday gate opening and need to pick people up at the airport on the midnight flight.

Any suggestions for parking an RV (fifth wheel) overnight near the site. At the SpringNationals last year we overnighted at a lot outside the gates. I'd like to be able to unhook the trailer for an hour and take the truck in for the airport pickup. Not sure what Homeland Security thinks of a 40ft Fifth Wheel pulling through an airport???

I know there is a nice RV park close by, but I don't think it would work for me. I need a pretty huge pull through space, and I think I'd probably be coming in and out during quiet hours.

There's a Walmart about 10 minutes from the site and they welcome RVs. Check this link.

How "secure" is that area? We plan on arriving in Lincoln on Wednesday with a CM car on an open trailer. Being able to drop the trailer off "sort of at the site" on Thursday would be great even though the Quality Inn has lots of big vehicle parking!!!

Otherwise, if we keep the trailer with us do we then end up at the "end of the parked the trailer overnight" folks line"? How much space is there or will we be blocking traffic on a busy street? I don't know where the site entrance is yet.

    Thanks!

"Unnamed Road" that runs E/W just north of W Mathis St and just south of W Luke St (all on the west side of the Lincoln airport, of course). Courses will be down in the area south/SE of W Mathis St, Paddock runs from just north of the courses up to a bit north of Luke St, and the Practice Courses and Tire Cleaning areas will be north of Paddock.

Do not park in the streets. Do not block intersections or driveways. There are a number of businesses right at our entrance that we cannot block.

I will talk to the airpark tomorrow and find out if we can get a designated early parking area and I will post back here.

With paddock spot pre-reg, shouldn't be the same rush to get early in line. But gate crunch will still be there as the pro entrants need to set up camp, get teched, etc. Friday is always a busy day.

Yes, there is a designated area now. We're working on which one it is, or both, and I should have an answer tomorrow.

Here's a link to google maps. The two areas we're talking about are on 38th street north and south of Airpark Road.

I will post details here when I have them tomorrow.

Ok, got the area now for sure, maps, etc. Need to make sure the National Office is onboard with everything and didn't have a chance to do so today. Will have all the gory details tomorrow.

The Airpark called it the "holding pen" ... LOL!

    Thanks!

Will there be any more details that what is now posted on the Nationals Web Page?

Such as "security" and how early on Thursday or even Wednesday? Primarily will it be any less "safe" than parking my open trailer with CM car at the Quality Inn overnight under its high security cheap blue tarp? (grin)
