The problem here is that the CRB has taken a class that was full of front runners with full Runoffs fields and f***ked it up. DaveS, your vettes had their days when they were the only game in town for T1. Why are they now allowed to dominate T2, which previuosly had an interesting mix of cars?

As far as Cole's Mustang being competetive, we are leaving it home even though c urrently T2 is the only class he is qualified in.

well old t1 would have been firing on al cylinders in 2013 if they would have just lleft it alone
HAHAHAHAHA! Thanks, I needed a laugh today.

Mustang didn't get a bigger plate. We had barely recieved our plates in the mail when the new smaller plate was specced.

I was blown away when the stang got a smaller plate BEFORE 1 had even hit the track in 2013.

Yep, I drove a 996 at Sebring on the test day in Jan with Mustangs on track. I then sent a letter asking for more weight off the Porsche. We got weight off and the surprise was the Mustang getting a smaller plate? My letter was based off of the straight line advantage I saw in the Mustang .

Bastard! ;-)

Our car isn't better this year. Realistically we gained about 75 lbs. We lost 40rwhp. We did change to 18s earlier in the year and a different brake package after Sprints. I CAN say, my driver is hands down better at her craft this year.

Just curious how was torque affected?

So far still only 5 cars entered? I know of one more for sure and an alternate if it rains.

Still not even enough to crown a champion. Banging head on desk.....

The change seems to be linear. About the same percentage as the HP.

Ok, I’ll play along with…

At Watkins Glen a mustang was on pole, won and set the track record, which was nowhere near the old T1 record set by John Heinricy. Oh, he is a ‘rookie’ also.

At Beaverun the same ‘rookie’ in a mustang beat Don Knowles, who was in a C5.

So how about this, stop your whining and race your cars. Just like I have been told to do for the last 7 years when the C5 was not competitive! Now back to beating my head against the desk.

Dave, was there a penalty on Don at PIR? Just checking the website and it shows Don beat the mustang?

It appears that the C5's get to add 75 pounds before the Runoffs.

Am sure that might bring more cars out.

Just wish we would have gotten that weight earlier in the year instead of 5 weeks prior to the Runoffs. This is what really pisses me off about how business is done. Again.....not saying its not warranted but changes after the 'season' is over but before the Runoffs are just flat wrong . Should have been done immediately after the SPRINTS.

It was a double, the Mustang had issues on Saturday and finished a couple laps back. The Sunday race is when the Mustang beat Don.

Nice! so the 3180lb T1 car now gets 195lbs. I understand the reason but geez that is a lot of lead. How does one safely bolt down 195lbs? That is a lot of volume of material. By 2014 season opener we might have 300lbs.

There are ways. The Vipers and C6s have been carrying that much for years in T1. The 996 had 400 lbs in it last year to make weight in the old T2. Personally I build ballast boxes for most cars that need that weight.

I don't know how to do that. Can you post up some pics or email some pics of a ballast box?

Thanks,

The box bolted to the floor in the picture was what I used on a 996 Porsche

Touring
T2
1. #11736 (Marty Grand) Touring 2 Disparity
Thank you for your request. Please see the response to letter #11972, Technical Bulletin.

2. #11972 (John Buttermore) Balance Performance of new T2
In T2, Chevrolet Corvette C‐5 incl. Fxd Cpe (98‐04) Z06 (hardtop) (01‐04), change the weight asfollows:
3300 3375

I guess the 75 lbs is in response to me asking for parity

So what exactly did your letter ask for ?

I, along with many others I am sure believe that the SCCA should post the contents of all letters submitted. I know what #11972 said because John Buttermore feels the same way.

Just curious.

Some of the Letters are very LONG! It would be hard to sort through and post all the letters or edit them. Remember this is all done by fellow club members that are donating their time. Some of the ConCalls go on for 4-5 hours as it is. Not to mention the emails, forum discussions, and home work.

The letters are initially submitted via email. It would be pretty easy for this information to be made available via the SCCA website.

I am the first guy to say the CRB has a daunting yet completely thankless job. It takes a dedicated individual to donate the time and effort to try to do that for our club and although I am also sometimes very critical, its usually not about the decisions made, its about the process that seems to get in the way.

Thanks for doing what you all do......I couldn't do it.
