Sold my MR2 spyder and pickup up a S2000.  I ran my MR2 in stock class but want to have a little more freedom with the Honda so looked at either STR or SSM,  Most of the time it will see action in the local car club in the pax indexed class but wondered the difference in the STR and SSM index.  SSM actually has a softer index then STR, seems like that is backwards.

What do you mean? SSM (0.882) is a lot harder than STR (0.838).

Your right, totally got those backwards.  But we can note that the STR has a better index then a B stock tire car.  (BSR)

Yeah...because STR cars are slower than BSR. STF is slower than HSR. Why? Because street tires don't stick as well as DOT R comps. More so at Lincoln than anywhere. The 2 sec gap widens to 3+ sec there.

Not trying to start a debate, but according to PAX, on a 60 second course, the difference between R-comps and normal tires are less than a second.

Closer to 0.33 of a second for GS and HS cars.

Which is why the 2014 PAX values for HS and GS are way too stiff, especially when compared to STF. A well-prepped STF car is far more capable than an H-Street car but PAX doesn't really give credit for that.

I'm confident t'll work itself out after this season.
