Neosho, Missouri

Ozark Mountain Region SCCA once again invites everyone to Crowder College Truck Driving School in Neosho, Missouri, for the opening round of the 2010 TireRack Midwest Division Solo Series presented by R&S Racing and Solo Performance Specialties, with special thanks to Reliable Imports & RV and Crowder College Truck Driving School.

Come enjoy Springtime weather and 375,000 square feet of grippy, tire-friendly, and unobstructed asphalt. Just south of Joplin, it is centrally located to the Midwest division, and is an easy four-lane haul from most locations via I-44 and US 71. The 2009 Neosho event was runner-up in the SCCA Division of the Year, and we hope to have as much fun this year!

Never been to a divisional-level autocross? If you're an SCCA member, this is your chance to compete against some of the best drivers from the Midwest by combining the best times from two days of competition. This will also be a points-paying event for OMRSCCA members. Loaner helmets will be available.

    Almost there!

The weather both days look to be cool in the morning, warming to the high 60s or low 70s. Forecasts show a chance of rain, but it looks like the scattered Springtime variety rather than a driving rain. Come prepared for a variety of conditions, and bring your sunscreen, poncho, jacket, etc.

The site is a driving instruction pad designed to be sprayed with water and reclaimed in a holding pond, so drainage is decent and pooling hasn't been bad from what we've seen. If we happen to get a brief shower, it will not dampen the fun. We'll be going rain or shine.

Feel free to come hungry. We will have chips and sub trays again during registration on Friday evening, and we'll have the Saturday evening banquet, of course. The Trucking School staff will be selling burgers and concessions for lunch each day, so pocket a little cash before you hit the road and we'll do our best to prevent starvation.

Also, consider this a last call for SSS training and recertification. Lori Gill will begin the class at roughly 5 PM on Saturday (two hours before the dinner is served), and it will be held in the building we do tech/registration on Friday. We have seven people in the class so far and can accomodate more if you would like to come, but please let me know ASAP so she will have enough printouts on hand.

    See you soon! [H]
