The rulebook doesn't make any mention of them, so I bring the question here...are aftermarket vortex generators ST legal?

"The vortex is generated by pulling money out of your wallet"

I'll refer you to rule 13.1... "AUTHORIZED MODIFICATIONS - If a modification is not specifically authorized in this or previous Sections of these Rules, it is not allowed."

That's what I figured, but wanted someone else to sanity check me. Thanks Jeff!

BTW, my buddy already bought them anyway, so the vortex did its work :-D

Off topic (sort of) but is it legal in SP (and therefore SM) on a hatchback under spoiler allowance ?

    2. A spoiler may be added to the rear of the car provided it complies
    with either of the following:
    a) It is a production rear spoiler which is standard or optional equipment
of a US model of the vehicle or an exact replica in an alternate
    material.
    b) It is a non-production rear spoiler which is mounted to the rearmost
portion of the rear hatch, deck, or trunk lid. The spoiler may
extend no more than 10” (254 mm) from the original bodywork
in any direction. Alternatively, in a hatchback, the spoiler may
    be mounted to the rear hatch lid at or near the top of the hatch;
in such a configuration the spoiler may extend no more than 4”
(101.6 mm) from the original bodywork in any direction. The
spoiler may be no wider than the original bodywork, and it shall
not protrude beyond the overall perimeter of the bodywork as
viewed from above. The use of endplates is prohibited. Angle of
attack is free. The spoiler may not function as a wing.

Are you talking about bodywork or an intake vortex generator?

An intake vortex generator would be legal as long as it is between the Filter and the throttle body.

I threw these on my car before starting autox so I didn't take anything into consideration. However for local events no one ever saw a problem with them.

According to my experiments and tuft testing, they only make a big impact at highway speeds (although they do start making a small difference as low as 30mph). It's not like a front splitter or engineered rear wing. You're not going to have the edge with them.

So- they fall under the aero mods in the rules, but no one's gonna bother saying anything.

Just to clarify in my foggy head, you're asking about the mini shark fins on the back of Evo MR's, correct?
