I am converting a NA Miata to run in DP, I am needing clarification on the rule in regards to front spoilers/air dams, specifically 17.2 paragraph O and the line: "The spoiler shall not cover the normal grille opening at the front of the car"..."Openings are permitted for the purpose of ducting air to the brakes: My question is can a front mounted air dam be attached at the forward most part of the bumper and extend straight down or must it not be attached any higher than the lowest part of the grill opening? I have attached two photos, the red car is what I want (currently run this type in NASA PTE) and the blue car is how I interpret the rule.
    Any advise would be great.

    Thanks!

Either one would be fine as long as you don't cover the normal grill opening. I'm sure in the GCR there are specifications to allowed body panels all of which would be legal.
