My friend runs a F56 mini Cooper S at our local autox and we are having a hard time finding the maximum with people are running for tires on this car. He is planning on using a 16x7 wheel, I was thinking we could get an 215 on there, but there doesn't seem to be anyone that has, and the math makes it look like it could hit the strut. Anyone have any insight as to what width tire you can sneak on this car. My wifes r56 tucks a 205 with ease, and I'm pretty sure people put 225s on the r56 as well. Thanks guys.

FWIW I run the 205/45-16 RE-71R which provides a nice compact diameter, allows good thrust to the contact patch with that long 2nd gear, and is well supported by a 7" rim. Exploration of 225 on a 7" rim in the past have proven unproductive, and this setup seems to work very nicely. The sidewall matters (and varies by manufacturer of course) so caveat emptor.

I've run the 215/45/16 bfg's and the 225/45/16 Dunlop star specs, both fit on 07 cooper s with no issues.
