I've got a Road Race SCCA STU car. I want to run it in SSM locally but it's a big pain pulling the fire system to install a passenger seat and dig up carpet. I'm not going to take it to a big event just trying to come up with a chain of OK's so the locals can't protest it. Here is how I see it.
Road Race Touring class vehicles are legal for Street Prepared. Street Prepared bumps to Street Mod. STU is Super "TOURING" Under. I know it's fuzzy logic (but honestly does it have a chance, it's not built for autox), but that says to me a Touring car could therefore run in Street Mod.

Street Mod is intended for cars that can still be reasonably driven on the street. A road race STU car in race trim could not.

The SSM index is so tough, it won't really matter much if you race the car in XP or FP instead (where it probably officially classes to).

    SSM Index: .882
    XP: .890
    FP: .880

Same can be said about street prepared, yet IT full caged race cars can run Street Prepared and happily bump to SM.
