So I'm build a little e mod monster and in an effort to get spring rates close I'm getting more questions then answers. Suspension is intensely complicated and I'm working through the math. My travel is the concern. I have 3" of compression and droop total of 6". I know this is more then I need but I didn't want to be limited I can close into ideal with testing. Online spring calculators are giving me 394# spring rates but my unsprung rate is about 450. This if I allow 3" of droop will unseat the coil spring. What's the best way to keep the spring seated? I don't foresee allow the suspension to actually travel more then an inch in each direction but what if? I've read online to use a lighter spring so at ride height the spring is compressed 3" but will this sacrifice handling on the course. I'm trying to gather up different springs for testing. I wish the scca search was working

Do a Google search for helper/tender springs.
