Thanks to everyone who came out to Event #1.  We ended up with 135 competitors, so great showing!

And a heartfelt Thank You to you all for the patience on the Timing and Scoring front.  Our WiFi hot spot was down, so we couldn't update the Live Results on the website.  Then, for those who didn't notice, the T&S computer crashed during 3rd (Blue) Heat.  Luckily, it did so while we had a pause in the action to assist with the Grand Prix.  That bought us enough time to bring the system back up, but the software lost the first half of heat 3 results.  This is why we keep the paper Master Log!  We still had the data, I just needed time to manually key in all you heat 3 drivers' runs/times/penalties.

That's done, and the first cut of results are posted.  I'm still generating the Ladies, Novice, and Points results, but I wanted to get some Official and Audited results out, so the smack talking for Event #2 and bragging on Event #1 can begin.

    Class Results!

    PAX Results!

The remaining results should be out later this week, I'll update this thread when they are available.

    Thanks,

    -Rob K

    Everyone,
Finally, a week later, I've finished up the official, audited standings.  Check out the website for Class, PAX, Ladies, and Novice results.  Also returning from last year is the Raw Time Results, so you can benchmark yourself in straight time to others.

If I've left you off of the Ladies or Novice lists, or accidentally included you, shoot me an email and I'll make adjustments.  For the Novice Championship, you are considered a Novice if, prior to Event 1, you've participated in 5 or less autocross events.

And, it is worth pointing out that our Novice Championship is currently our closest contest!  Chad Griffith drove his GT350 into 1st place, just edging out Zack Feltenstein in his WRX by 0.003 seconds, and 1 championship point!

    2016 Results!

    Thanks!

Thanks Rob for all the work you put in.

Not sure who to ask about this, but I am wondering about the Exocet running this year in XP. The car is not listed as an XP legal car. Also it has a diffuser which is not allowed in XP. The other issue is how he was allowed to run in 2nd heat when XP was required to run 1st heat. I am not going to be in the points run this year so I personally am not harmed, but the car should at least run in the proper heat and class. I poked around the internet a little and it seems all the other Exocets are running EM although it would seem that an open wheel car should be classed in AM or with the Reynard and other open wheel cars.

    Mike,

Looks like you're correct that it shouldn't have been in XP. But, the April fastrack added them to DM/EM (Naturally aspirated or Forced Induction). The stipulation is the wings/tunnels should be blocked off so they don't provide down force.

    Prepared
    #18761 Exocet Classing into XP
The PAC feels the Exocet is an example of a kit car that is produced rather than being a production car. Replicas of
production cars are considered on a case by case basis. The PAC thanks the member for their inquiry.
Note: Please see related item #17892 elsewhere herein.

    Modified
    #17892 Exomotive Exocet in DM/EM
Per the MAC, the following rule change proposal package is submitted for member comment:
    Modify 18.1.A.1 as follows:
    - re-letter the second subsection group in 18.1.A.1 to be g, h, i, j, and k
    - modify what will then be subsection i in 18.1.A.1 to read as follows:
    i. They will be allowed all, but no more than, the modifications that production-based cars are permitted,
with the exception that minimum width for all kit cars shall be no less than 65" as measured at the narrower end
of the car at the tire outer sidewalls with a minimum 14 psi of tire pressure.SCCA Fastrack News April 2016 Page 10
    - add new subsection l as follows:
    l. They must compete with full standard bodywork and that body must remain recognizable as that of the
approved make and model. For these purposes, the chassis of exoskeleton type cars is considered part of the
    bodywork.
    - add new subsection m as follows:
    m. Functional wings are not permitted even if they are part of the original kit manufacturer’s specification
and/or components. If present they must meet 18.1.F.6.
    - modify 18.1.F.6 as follows:
    6. If the a factory production or kit car was supplied with tunnels or wings, they may remain but they must
be blocked in a safe manner to prevent them from functioning to provide downforce. For example, foam or sheet
metal may be firmly attached in tunnels or on wings to ruin their shape or to stop airflow.
Note: if this change proposal is implemented, the specifications added to the listing for the Exomotive Exocet will be
removed, since these changes have the same effect.

Apparently per SCCA it should not be in XP, it should be in DM/EM, depending on:

From Appendix A of the rulebook, here's some stuff that seems relevant.

    D Modified (DM) - under 2.0L
    Min weight 1280lbs (<= 1.8L) / 1380lbs >1.8L - 2.0L

    E Modified (EM)
    Min weight 1700lbs (<= 3.2L OHC, 4.5L pushrod) / unlimited displacement - 1800 lbs

    and -
Turbocharged or supercharged versions of the above engines will be classified at 1.4x displacement.

This almost certainly means that the Exocet we had out should be classed in D-Modified. I know it's a Miata powertrain, and I don't remember hearing a turbocharger or BOV.

edit: Kyle beat me to it.

Thanks guys! The ruling is about what I thought. Not sure why it did not come up in my search. The Exocet with a turbo and slicks could be wicked fast! If I built one I would probably figure out how to cram a LS1 into it.

Why not an LSA? - https://www.flyinmiata.com/projects/XXXocet/index.php?UID=41

That would work. Just wish they had a better designer for the bodywork.

Actually, it should be in AM for now. The proposal to add them to DM/EM is a proposal for member comment and, if passed, would not take effect until 1/1/17.

That said, if he comes back (hopefully) I have no issue with him running in EM since I am the only other EM guy usually. I don't think he will be an index threat there. :)
