I decided to take the plunge and try the Pro Solo event a Blytheville.

Does anyone have info on some good places to stay in town and or is there camping available?

I believe people do camp just outside the gate. There are plenty of hotels: Holiday Inn, Hampton Inn if you want something a little nicer, Super 8 and Quality Inn if you want to spend less. I've heard stories of bed bugs at the Days Inn.

I'd definitely take the Evo Holeshot class. This could get very overwhelming if you just try to wing it. It'll get you up to speed on the procedures and differences from plain old autocross.

PS-You're about to find out why some of us are the way we are.

    Thanks Sean!

I started out in drag racing and wasn't planning on taking Hole Shot. However, if I can get the whole day off I think I will sign up for it.

Thanks for the hotel info, I'll figure out which ones have breakfast included and go that route.

The Holeshot helps with all the procedural things that are different from a regular solo event. I do highly recommend entering that if you can, I will be one of the instructors for that. Also attend Howard's Novice meeting.

Thanks guys, whether or not I attend Holeshot will depend on whether I can get a whole day off or only a half day on the 5th. Now that I have a better understanding course I can definitely see the advantage of attending.

Find me at the first event, I can give some basics in case you can't make the Holeshot school.

I may have to cancel if I can't get the whole day off but, I went ahead and signed up for Hole Shot.

I will toss one of the run/work sheets in my bag for tomorrow so you can see how the assignments work.

Jim, I just noticed you're signed up for #193. In National solo, 1xx's are reserved for 2nd drivers only. You'll either want to change your registration to 93 or they'll do it for you when you check in Friday.

Do we need to be concerned about the road closures? How and when are people planning on driving down. My plan was to head down Friday afternoon but I am concerned 55 South will still be closed.

There are ways around. Currently Lemay is still open and can be taken to 141. Or take 64-57-55, it's 60 additional miles to go that way.

I think I did not have a good event, cone issues cost a closer finish in class competition. I need to get my act together quick.
