August 21st and 22nd, Cumberland Motor Club (a local Maine autocross club) will be hosting a 2 day extended event / mini series at LORING AFB in Limestone, Maine.
This venue has 300 ft x 16,000 ft of runway, plus several concrete pads over a 1/4 mile square. Details to be worked out after a site inspection by the event chairs in early June, but one idea on the table is to take the course designs of several well liked nationals courses of years past and lay them out full scale adjacent each other with participants rotating through them. The weekend event will likely run like an event series of 3-5 events (on different courses) with most people arriving Friday night, a long day Saturday, and an early start Sunday with awards early in the afternoon on Sunday. On site camping, off site camping, and a local motel are all available.
CMC is accustomed to getting 6-8 runs at regular events with 60-120 participants. As this event draws closer we would like to try to get an idea of how many participants to expect so we can plan accordingly. By running multiple courses simultaneously, we can achieve a large number of runs on several different courses for every participant, if there is sufficient attendance. If you are interested, feel free to post here.
