I have 3000 street miles/12 autox/110 autox runs on my RE11. They have been wearing great so far as I still have 4 to 5/32nd across the whole tire. I do notice a wear down the outside of the tire due to the lack of camber in the front. Do you think I can flip the tire to get a more even wear for the rest of the tire?

    thx

Yep - quite common practice. In fact, I intend to do exactly that with the street-tires on my Bullitt this weekend, as they're suffering the same affliction.

Keep in mind, directional tires need to jump to the OTHER side of the car, after flipping-over on the rims.

Not a good idea on RE-11's though due to the asymetrical design they will not perform as intended. This question was also asked of the Bridgestone reps that were in Milwaukee for the National Street Tire Challenge by one of the local and the advised highly against it.

Inside/Outside labeled tires might not work so well though with a flip if the tread pattern is highly asymmetric.

    EDIT: I type too slowly...

    D'OH!

I didn't have "Asymmetrical Tread" in my head, just "Directional Tread" on the brain.........

Yeah, they won't perform nearly as well.

HOWEVER, if you're about to cord 'em in the corners, what have you got to lose?

I flipped Yokohama AD08's late in the game before the Peru Nat'l tour with exceptionally bad outcome. Hope your tires respond better. In hindsight, I should have either flipped them earlier or driven them to submission.

I just want to see if it is a good idea since I used to flip my R888 and RA1s backward all the time.

To be honest, if i can get 1 full year of autox out of it (about 200 runs and 7500 miles), I really don't think I can complain about it.

Why would it be a negative if you swap them to the other side of the car after flipping?

That's not the problem - they were talking "Asymmetrical Tread" while I was thinking "Directional Tread". A-S Tread, doesn't matter which position on the car the tire is - it's still turned-wrong on the wheel for Best Performance.
