We just got an 88 RX7 that was used for ITS. It has been sitting for years. Got a cooling issue. Want to replace radiator.
WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE SOME INPUT FROM GUYS WITH EXPERIENCE AS TO THE BEST RADIATOR TO REPLACE THE OLD ONE WITH
1st thing to do is make sure the issue isn't a bad water seal in the engine or a dead radiator cap. Depending on where you live the stock radiators are adequate.
What is the cooling issue?
If it is pushing water out continually the water seals are bad. I have never seen the stock radiator to be adequate on an ITS with a 4.88 or 5.13 rear gear. If you rev them you must have a Ron Davis or similar rad and a Setrab oil cooler or 2 stock ones or some other type of stand alone water/oil heat exchanger. If you plan on an engine lasting I think these are the 2 most important items. You really need to keep the temps low around 200 on water and 230 on oil.
