Here are the rest of the results. It's a shame somebody was so insecure with their own driving that they felt the need to protest Ian over a nothing piece of missing plastic. Unfair ground effects!!!!!!!

It's a shame a national level competitor would show up to an event with pieces of their car missing (thus being *illegal*). It's a legitamite protest. This is just one of the many differences between local and national events.

I wasn't there, so I won't argue if the punishment fit the "crime." Seems to me, that dropping his fastest time might be a more reasonable penalty for the rumored insignificance of the missing piece.

Hmmm, I smell a tougher PAX/RTP number for STS in 2004.

In a side note, it was one heck of a come from behind win in CSP for Tim Aro! I'd like to see Sunday's results by themselves so I could see where Tim's time indexes.

    I'm sure it was "legit"....just inappropriate nit-picking.

Well its looking as though F Stock is safe from the 350Z. Carter Thompson was much faster than Tommy Pulliam at the SE Divisional and Pat Salerno smoked the F Stock crowd at the NT....I know, just two events, but shows a trend.

The Day 1 top 25 in PAX included 4 G Stock top national competitors, 2 H Stock, and 4 STS....all with similar PAX. Seems pretty much what you would expect.

What does asphalt have to do with it? Not being a smart-ass. Are you saying Hoosiers do much better than Falkens, et all on concrete but not asphalt?

Absolutely! Concrete allows Hoosiers to grip much better. The ST* crowd has better chances of paxing well on asphalt then concrete.

I think you might have answered the question yourself. Asphalt in my opinon needs rubber laid down for rear wheel drive cars to go fast.Usually 1-maybe 2 heats. If you saw the surface you would see what I mean. But there are always exceptions...

Awesome course (Lee Piccone) and a very well run event! Great job by the DC Region and Autocrossers INC.

The missing piece of plastic off the car actually allowed more air into the engine area, thus helping intake. Was it worth .8 second? No, but it was worth something. The protestors had thought about waiting until Nationals and hold it in their pocket, but decided to do Ian a favor and protest it now. - AB

Commendable if true....he could have just told him that he would protest him at Nationals unless he fixed it.

The piece of plastic may not have been the only illegal modification done to the car. That was the one that was obvious and absolutely incontestable. From what I heard there were other modifications including brake ducting that were not on the protest.

Nah, he just needs to win when he beats me.

I took him in our 2 Pro's this year, he's taken me at the 2 Tours. My turn next week. SCCAForums Image

I think it's great having a comparable driver in my car. I think we've been within 1 sec of each other at all 4 of those 2003 national events. We're able to give each other great feedback.

It's cool to see that almost all of the FS drivers (through 9th position!) made it in the top 5%. Says something for those people who think FS drivers are a bunch of hacks (and I hope the person who said as much at DC is reading this). SCCAForums Image Hmmmmm, where are all the SM2 drivers? SCCAForums Image SCCAForums Image

Considering that a CSP won SM2, I wouldn't expect to see a lot of SM2 in the very top ranks. BTW, Rich Wayne is #86.

Just for clarification...Pat Salerno offered Ian the 350Z for Sunday, and that is where his day 2 times are from.

Bryan's right. I've been his bitch at the Pro's, and he's been mine at the Tours. I know he wants to keep it that way this weekend, so he has a shot at the overall Pro win. Like he said, it's nice to have comparable drivers in the same car. Great feedback and similar car setup and driving styles makes it all good... Plus, we both like beer a lot SCCAForums Image - AB
