First of all, the 405Mi16 was sold in the U.S. alongside the plainjane 405 DL /S.
From Road & Track, 11/88, the MI16 is a 2695 lb car with a 150 hp 1.9L DOHC 4-cyl. Tested 0-60 is 9.0 sec. The car road on 14 x 6 wheels, and was a pretty good handling car for 1989.
In perhaps the weirdest classing in the rulebook, the MI16 used to be classed in BS against the MR2 turbos. It hasn't been listed for a few years, but the correct SP listing is ESP.
Once again, beats me as to why.
I'm guessing that when it first came out it kicked butt in the sedan classes, and since it was so rare, they put it into a class where they figured it would bother no one. The classes have matured and changed, but I guessing that the car was forgotten and has never been changed.
My opinion is that it should be classed in either ES or GS.
