Hi, I am a mechanical engineering student designing a side view/wing mirror.  Unlike conventional mirrors, my mirror does not protrude from the vehicle's body.  This could decrease overall vehicle drag by up to 5% and decrease accident damage to side view mirrors while increasing visibility.  Any thoughts?  Thanks!

Is this intended to meet any sort of racing class rules? If this is intended for the street, are there any laws regarding placement and size?

With that said, I've seen stock car racers add convex mirrors on the roll cage that runs down the A-pillar. It would be placed just inside of the window opening.

Good luck.

Thanks for answering!

I don't know much about racing and was hoping to get some feedback here.  I had been thinking that it could generally be useful for racing.  Is there a specific class that it would be most helpful in?  I also know that some people add convex mirrors or make other modifications.  Do you have any idea how popular it is to do that?
