Hey all, I'd love to see Kumho and/or Hoosier and even other tire manufacturers who are coming out with new compounds next year produce a 245/45/15 tire or even a 245/40/15

My particular application is an SM2 Miata that currently runs 225/45/15. What I'd like to know is what other cars would use this size in their respective classes? Woudln't this also be a good size for DSMers?

If you would be interested in seeing one, could you post here and note what vehicle application you would use it for?

    Thanks!

I would like to see a 245/40/15 for my e30 bmw in SP When i get there. The problem with running anything taller is the cars like to roll over and i feel the shorter tires would help keep the center of gravity lower reducing the chances.
But i think a lot of cars out there run a 245/45/16 only for the extra width but in reality the tire is probibly to tall for alot of cars running them.
Slap a set of 245/40/15 tires on a 10" rim. 245 width tire with the hight of a 225/45/15. What a nice dream.

Bingo. I run 245/45/16 on my miata, and they are taller than I'd like. I'd love to have a set of 245/xx/15s. Especially 40 series!

I'd love to see a 245/40-15 tire. We ran 225/45-15 Hoosiers on my co-driver's FSP TR-6 last year on 8.5" rims and could easily ran wider tires if they were available. Looked at going up in wheel size to get more width but every tire wider was at least 1.5" inches taller and we didn't want to sacrifice gearing for width.

Not that I'll be doing it, but that would also be the tire to have for a Cooper S in DSP, etc.

    Why stop at 245?!?!?

I'd buy a set right now regardless of maker!

I run an E30-M3 in SM on 225/45-15s. Funny you should make this post. I am in the process of trying to decide if I should jump to 16s to get the 245s. I would certainly like to try them.

Russ, this is exactly my dilemma! i'm running 225/45-15s also but will need to cut my rear fenders in order to go to 16s. i'd much rather stay with 15s!

Just so you know the 205/50-15 Hoosier A3S04 is a very large 205 (very close to a 225).
They WILL not fit on the back of an Integra.

dp Russ and Dan how wide of 15" rim are you runing now with your 225's. I will be running a 9" rim with mine and they are a perfect fit with the Hoosiers.

mark, are the a3s04 that much wider? i currently use a3s03 225/45-15's all around my civic, and although they are wide, with some massaging they fit in the back no problem with a 15x7 wheel.

They are not bigger that a 225 (probably closer to a 215). The Integra they would not fit on runs SSB where spacers or non stock offset wheels are not allowed.

As far as I know Hoosier does not plan to build a 225/45-15 A or R 3S04 right now.

It would proabably mess with your gearing and it is the road race tire but isn't there a 245/50/15 hoosier RS303? There is also a 275/50/15 RS303..... Just a thought

I'm told my 225/45-15 A3S04's will be made at the end of Dec for early Jan shipment. The new tires have a rim protector found on the larger sizes in the past. This is what makes them wider than the S03's, however they're only 1 lb heavier. I don't know if the 205's will fit on the front of our ES MR2's yet. Also not sure if the 225's will fit on the Miata's.

I've shot an email to Rick Brennan at Kumho, rbrennan@kumhotireusa.com
about some 245/4x/15 tires. Please send a note to Rick asking about getting these! If anyone knows who to "pester" at Hoosier post it up and I will email them as well.

I'd run them on my CSP Miata which currently runs 235/45/13s. Would work well if I transition to SM2 as well.

Kumho has now said they will produce a 245/45/15 in the V710! Theoretically available in June.
