2 Replies and 910 Views OEM wheel options/restrictions?  910  2 Started by  roninsoldier83 Hello! So, I own a base 2016 VW Golf R and would like to run the car in B-Street. The base model comes with 18x7.5' wheels, but there's an option package that includes 19x8' wheels. The caveat is that in order to get the 19x8' wheels from the factory, you have to order the Nav/DCC package. I know about he /- 1' rule and it mentions standard wheels. With the rule, a Golf R that came with 19x8' wheels could run 18x8' wheels. Since the 19x8' wheels are optional on the car, can I run 18x8' w...

3 Replies and 607 Views Stock Class steering wheel rules  607  3 Started by  MrMx5 I know that this topic has been talked to death but I am still curious about something and haven't been able to find a direct answer. I have a 97 miata r package (conversion) and I know that if a car came with a airbag you are not permitted to change the wheel, the answer is probably no but why couldn't I find a OEM airbag wheel from another car that is the same Diameter and weight and use that to replace my raggedy beat up 4 spoke NA steering wheel. I know of multiple people who run at national...

9 Replies and 962 Views First Auto X in 2 weeks, tips, hints and tricks?  962  9 Started by  j.pavulon Just a week ago I purchased an 02 rsx s that I plan on running in 4 events this year. The first one will be in about 2 weeks. So far I have purchased Hawk HKS Plus pads, centric blanks, Potenza RE71 tires. My current plan is to drive it in this set up for this season and most likely move to the street touring class. From my current research the most I have learned is to walk the course, slow and steady until I learn the course. Any tips or tricks for handling formalities for an rsx wou...

Well are there any SAC members out there with some insight as to where it is going to go. 137hp 179 tq and about the same weight as the current car. Can't go in HS would be an underdog in DS so maybe GS. Probably would dominate G, what do ya think

19 Replies and 6294 Views 2016 Camaro SS--no way its F-street, right?  6294  19 Started by  Cito As I am sure many of us have, I have been reading every article I can on the 2016 Camaro SS, and it looks like Chevy has knocked one way out of the park with the car. Traditionally, it would be straight to F-street, or F-stock in the old days, for the Camaro, but the car seems like it is so good that I am not sure that is going to happen here. Interestingly, the Camaro is based on the Cadillac ATS chassis. The ATS 3.6 has already been classed, I think inappropriately so, in BS while the 2.0 A...

8 Replies and 2220 Views automatic equipped cars - options for street class  2220  8 Started by  coastal_I So I've looked through the archives but didn't find anything recent or comprehensive. I am wondering what the viable options are for automatic equipped cars in any street classes. This doesn't include cars with computer controlled manuals, I'm talking about torque converter equipped autos. I don't want to start a fight in the posting around auto vs manual. And when I say viable, I mean competitive for the AVERAGE autocross driver, something that can stay in the mix at national events. I real...

Right now what I've seen is the Rival S, and Toyo R1R. Would really like a RE71R in this size.

1 Replies and 1665 Views SOLO Nats AS/BS tire question  1665  1 Started by  Cactus Bob First off; I'm a newbie on this forum so if I'm not following protocol, just let me know! Question: I'm trying to figure out why it appears most of the fast guys in AS at the SOLO nats ran BFG Rivals and the BS guys seemed to have used Bridgestones. Looking at the photos of the winning entries, the AS cars ran 18' front wheels but the winning BS cars ran stock 17' diameter wheels. Was the BFG better in AS with the wider Z06 wheels Better size availability We are a long-time SCCA solo fami...

Looking for wheels that will allow me to stay in F Street (car is stock) and also want to use the wheels for track days. 3 Replies and 3351 Views SS Class Car Purchase Opinions  3351  3 Started by  jhalliman Question: I'm considering dropping my highly uncompetitive (but fun) STR Miata at the end of the season and moving to something that I can compete more with. I'd prefer, for personal reasons, an Elise (or '06 NA Exige) OR a C7 Z06 for SS. Budget isn't a massive concern to me but I don't hate spending less money. Does anyone have enough experience with the new Z06 to determine whether the Elise will remain competitive or not in the SS class with the release of the new platform Also, I'm not s...
