3 Replies and 13071 Views Feature your Sports Car on my YouTube Channel and show your project to the world  13071  3 Started by  cincysubie Feature your Sports Car on my YouTube Channel and show your project to the world   Hello all!   I am new to the forum here but am a longtime automotive enthusiast. I have not participated much in official races but enjoy driving, modifying, watching and in general consuming all things automotive. I am not the biggest gearhead or tuner out there as I do not have the know-how to do my own full builds or how to race the fastest lap around a real track. I do however have a YouTube Cha...

1 Replies and 1166 Views Kansas/Kansas City Regions Middiv 1  1166  1 Started by  ron   The Midwest Divisional series kicks off next weekend April 21,22 at Heartland Motorsports Park. You can enter for one day or both and entering both gets you a catered dinner off site at the National Guard Museum, good food and a nice place that is only a couple of minutes from the site. The course will be designed and built by Ron Williams and will have the usual 50 to 60 second length with national style challenges. Come join the fun even if you haven't driven a divisional event before,...

1 Replies and 3790 Views Choosing a class  3790  1 Started by  z.ling111 I'm current looking and daydreaming about scca racing. I really want to drive something with downforce and paddles (i'm also a nerd so I would be looking for a car with a mychron). I've been looking at arrive and drive packages, f1000 ,f2000 and prototypes. f1000 seems to very cool as the cars use a motorcycle engine and remind me of radicals. Most of my time i've been on the websites and came to the conclusion that it's either rich people or people that are trying to climb the motorsport ladder...

0 Replies and 410 Views 1970 AMC Hornet 5.3LS Turbo - NOOBIE  410  0 Started by  KC_Jedi Hello all! Just joined the forum, and forgive me if I am beating a dead horse here. I am building a 1970 AMC Hornet SST Coupe, and swaping the old tired straight 6 out for a 5.3L LS motor. I also intend to rearmount a turbo to this car. I am waste deep in suspension mods to include front coil-overs, new bushings, lowered leaf springs, Ford 88 rear end, and disk brakes all around. Next will be the motor and exhaust (est 575hp). Outside of the safety regulations (which I understand there are ...

3 Replies and 14367 Views Spotted unknown car?  14367  3 Started by  WilliamMer This car was a very expensive looking roadster/sport. It had roundish tail lights that were kinda flattened at the top and bottom. It was single exhaust and 2 door. The headlights looked like they stuck up a little bit from the body and weren't sleek with it. It also didn't appear to have a logo on it and the only branding on the car was these two silverish plates on the trunk (that happened to be just above my headlight cut off line so I couldn't read it without hi-beaming the guy). It also had...

1 Replies and 2283 Views Ft. Meyers national events - co-driver available  2283  1 Started by  GlennAustin After two years away from racing (and almost 5 years of serious driving if you count all of the other stuff I've had to deal with), I'm signed up for the Fort Meyers Match Tour and ProSolo with the hopes of finding a co-drive. I'm generally pretty easy on equipment and can drive almost anything. Reply here and I'll see your response (or just message me).

1 Replies and 5221 Views Class For Anything Goes Miata (Hillclimb)?  5221  1 Started by  JESfromASC Trust me I have tried numerous times to get help with this while at SCCA events. I'm running SCCA Hillclimb and have a 'anything goes' Miata. It's not like I'm going to win and get challenged or anything but I would like to at least get close to a class of cars like mine. I'm just choosing SM (Spec Miata) for lack of knowing what other class I might choose. I was up against a couple of other Miatas in 2017 events that were close to mine in design and level of stripped out - built up. SUP Ma...

3 Replies and 3960 Views Full Open - No Windshield Miatas?  3960  3 Started by  JESfromASC Running local hillclimb events (NC) and after the last one decided to bite the bullet and dropped the windshield on my Miata. I know there are entire series that run that way. Couple issues I now have: 1) Recent track day (over 90 - 100 MPH) things get pretty squirrelly with helmet buffeting. I went ahead and fabricated a pretty good poly windshield that I can pop in and out, but curious how the rest of you deal with it 2) Curious about general aero changes/fixes Like the helmet the car se...

0 Replies and 517 Views Classing an 2018 Audi RS3  517  0 Started by  Joe Sherman Is there a class for the 2018 Audi RS3 Or could I just show up and see what class I get stuck in. I am not too sure if it makes much difference besides knowing what I should expect. I wasn't looking to win anything as much as looking for a place to drive my car more agressively than I can on my way to work. Lol

0 Replies and 672 Views Help me build my dream car!  672  0 Started by  ericmcah Hello SCCA forums! To start: this is my first post here, so please let me know if I should be doing anything different in the future. My situation:  I go driving on gravel roads for fun, but I drive a normal 2005 Ford Focus ZX5 and get worried about abusing the stock components because there are plenty of potholes, and steep uphill/downhill sections. I would be happy to keep the Focus and modify it, including lightweighting it, but I won't be heart broken over selling it, either. My bu...
