You better hope it's not me. You'll all be travelling to Wisonsin for Nats!
It will be to be re-named in my honor, and I will insist on winning my class each year.
That's a small price to pay. I'm all for it.

I give up, what is the stuff stored all over the runways and plane parking areas? DaveW
Looks like broken CP cars to me.
Seriously, that looks like a whole lot of shipping containers, but it is hard to tell.

Dude its obvious... the federal government is moving the Ark.... all the hype of the Raiders movie has compromised the present location.... one of those containers holds the arc. The other holds and unknown object of similar weight. Rick

There is a law against that many CP cars in one place at a time...plus laws about keeping them under cover, etc. :)
I thought shipping containers too, but scrolling around, there are "dents" in the rows. Maybe straw/hay? Whatever it is, I hope it is easily movable....:)

Lynn: There is no point in talking about Forbes.
OasisTan:Maybe the City of Topeka...
I'm guess I'm too stubborn. I can't believe the City / Chamber of Commerce would just let us go homeless. We don't need to convince another city, Topeka already knows how much $ we bring in. They're not willing to pull strings to get us back on Forbes?
That lot is /SO/ large. Nationals hasn't felt like Nationals since it moved to HPT.

Forbes is a disaster. Go back and read all those "get us off of Forbes" threads from the last year we ran there. I did the design and setup on the final North course and we had to patch almost the entire path used and it was still a bumpy mess.. You should see the map of patching...looks like craters of the moon Still, even with all the patching, it came apart completely when the rains came and we had to castrate the course to continue. There is an underground stream which goes beneath the north course area. Forbes was built during a steel shortage and there is no rebar in the concrete. Subject unreinfiorced concrete to Kansas' yearly frost heaving and you get what had to work with: rubble. The Air Guard/reserve unit stationed there has now taken over much of the north course area. You aren't going to move them. Also, much of the south course area is now active taxiway. That airport is growing, albeit slowly.
It ain't gonna happen @ Forbes. --Andy

Re: 2009 Nationals and Pro Finale?
Where is that at? Anywhere but the bus lot :( It's probably already been discussed, but the giant lot we used for the tour could work right? I heard Arrowhead in KC mentioned, but I also heard they like to play sports there from time to time :) But the Royals ain't gonna make the postseason anytime soon so it might work :) DFWmiata:

Re: 2009 Nationals and Pro Finale?
This is the kind of place we need to be running Nationals on.
Too bad it's on the east coast...
...and they won't let us run there.
(Yes, there is a nearby Baby Dolls.)

There's also a little leage called the NFL that plays in August and Septmeber... Hell, let's just move Nationals to May or June - great weather at least!

Actually, that's not too crazy an idea...better weather, schools are out...I think there'd be more "buzz" or excitement and more participation...
