    Re: LINCOLN

Thinking ahead (assuming Lincoln is chosen), what kind of banquet facilities are available in town and can they handle a crowd of 600-800?  FWIW, I was not impressed with the fare at this year's banquets.  Wednesday was better than Friday but neither was better than average.  I don't know if this was addressed elsewhere in this thread but I don't want to read the rest of the 50+ pages again.

And +1 on a free entry for Mark.

The banquet is not a priority for most people.  However, Lincoln has a convention center and a major university.  I think they probably can handle the banquet easily.

Boy, we eat BEEF up here (please reference earlier post about 245,000 cows).  Dinner wednesday night will consist of a fork, knife, an open fire pit and a steer.  If you go away hungry, it's your own fault. I hear cowhide makes excellent tire warmers!

On a more serious side, ~245,000 population in Lincoln.  Twice the size of Topeka.  The Convention and Visitors Bureau assured me it wouldn't be a problem.

I think we need to move Nats to mid-August.  We won't need a banquet with this.

Okay, sorry Mark.  I didn't mean to rankle anybody.  I did not know that Mr Julow got more/different info after the town hall.

And yes, Lincoln makes so much more sense than other locations it's silly.  Surface, space, centrality in the US, amenities (meaning community), access to airports and the like.  I really hope it winds up being Lincoln despite the three hours of driving savings I would personally enjoy going to Blythesville, it just makes sense.  I'd rather have a December announcement for Lincoln than an October announcement for Blythesville.

Not rankled at all.  No apologies necessary.  Just letting you know what happened!

    Re: LINCOLN

Lincoln is a longer drive for me (not by much) than Topeka, and LOTS longer than Blytheville.  Based on the available info, Lincoln is far and away my first choice.

Yeah, but you can't walk around grid.

And as soon as you collapse (after one step)----the powers that be will throw a car cover right over you.

While I on the other hand, will be very mobile.

You must be very  sure of yourself to make a wrongheaded assclown statement like the one above.  You have no idea what you are talking about !

Everyone that knows me, also knows that my wife keeps my BALLS in locked box in my bedroom closet.  And for your information--buddy--when she let me see them 5 months ago.....they looked just fine.

Agreed. Also, it looks like it has a couple better golf courses than Toe-picker too.

Two day event at the PROPOSED Lincoln Site October 18/19!

If you're going to be in the area, you might want to stop by....

The Nebraska Region Board met tonight and decided to move the Lincoln Airpark event onto the proposed national surface. The area we are using is appoximately 1100' x 1300', give or take.

Yes, this is the actual proposed National Championship Site we will be running on.

Eventmaster Matt McCabe is planning on setting up the 1997 Championship North course that was run at Forbes Field. We may have to change some of it for various reasons, but it will be a national level course.

Cost to run this event are going to be a little more due to site rental expenses.
Members will be $30.00 for a single day, either day, $40.00 for both days. Non-members are $40.00 single day, either day, $50.00 for both days.

I will be posting hotel information for people coming into town for both days later.

If you're planning on attending, please pre-register at motorsports.com so we know who's coming. The link is http://www.motorsportreg.com/index.cfm/event/event.advert/uidEvent/FD9FD6B7-0FE1-00F4-D9F3F07C54D0DCAB

If you have any questions, please post them here and I'll try to answer them asap.

If its anything like here in Iowa, a couple phone calls and the beef and or pork producers associations will be all over bringing in some awesome eats.

If we get into this site, I might even talk nice about the Cornhuskers while I'm there.Big Smile
