    tire fitment question

I have a friend with an 07 STI that's essentially a STU car with a BSP computer program on it.

It's lowered about 1 inch with Tanabe springs, and running either on the stock 17x8s or 17x8.5 Rotas.

Question is....will the 275/40-17 that the AS guys run still clear on a lowered car like this? Or would we need coilovers on it with stiffer spring rates to control the travel? I remember seeing Stumpy or Stompy ;)  with BIG tires on it and stock fenders at one point.

Just trying to figure out what is possible :)

on the Tanabe springs you're going to be hard pressed to run a 275/40/17.

you "should" be able to run the 245/45/17 V710s on a 17x8.5 +48mm without issue on your current suspension (since it works well on an 05 with STi Pinks on the 8.5 +48mm).

to run the "big wheels/tires" you really need coilovers.

here's a little Daily Driven BSP article.

Stompy had rolled fenders..... I believe Joel was running 315 wide tires as well.

    only rolled?

I thought he radius'd the rear fenders for added clearance.

I am pretty sure he cut up the front fenders too.  I remember seeing it in a article on him and car.
