On a 60 second course, what do you think you'd be giving up in time?  The local courses here in San Diego are long and fast compared to most places with higher speeds than a lot of autocross venues.

Enough that you would probably regret investing in R6's for Solo work. Test & Tune or Evo schools, maybe, if you have them laying around. But not Solo.

60 seconds.  Well that's different, and yeah those SD courses are fast, so R6's would be the ticket.

PS----you are probably not going to want those 2 285/30/18 A6's with 12 runs on them---for $300 which had included shipping until I saw that you are out in Cali-------BECAUSE I just raised the price to like $350.....

Trying to get faster

... but they'll last longer. Might give up .5 to 1 second compared to softer tires. Less over heating and pick up probs also. IMO not a bad choice for local events.

For local use, if you do not have a lot of competition, the R6's are fine.  I have A6's that I plan on using for bigger events (Devens Tour this past weekend and a couple of local 'prestige' events).  Other than that, because none of my competition is on R-comps locally, I am using a set of R6's.

Don't kid yourself about less pick up problems.  I am constantly getting pickup on the R6's on my rear tires.

 

 

last weekend at our test-n-tune I was using R6's on my DS prepped 330i sport.

I drove another guy's bone stock 330i ZHP with pilot sports, and came within 3 tenths of my time. oem shocks, sways, and pads.

Maybe I drove well, and maybe the ZHP is a better car, but another data point tells the real story, we have a long concrete section that we do a lot of slaloms on. A6s usually have a lot of grip there and I can pretty flat foot it the whole way, but on sunday I was sliding around pretty significantly.

The R6's definitely have less grip. I think they're better than the street tires, but these days the gap is closing.
