    Come and Take It!

Announcing the Southwest Divisional Solo Series regional participation trophy. Named the "Come and Take It!" trophy, it will be awarded to the region that has the highest average points per entry after all four divisional events.  The winning region will get to keep the trophy for the next year and gloat endlessly that their region is the best in the Southwest Division.

Each competitor will be awarded points based on their finishing position (9pts -1st, 6pts -2nd, 4pts - 3rd, 2, 1, 1, 1. The only exception being uncontested class wins will receive 7 pts). The points for each region will be averaged over all four events and after the final divisional in Fort Worth, the winning region will claim the trophy. Each region must average 5 entries per event to be eligible. (So, 20 entries at one event will count)

The "Come and Take It" name comes from the Texas Revolution battle where Mexico came to reclaim a cannon in the town of Gonzalez, to which the locals said "Come and take it". After a fair amount of bloodshed the cannon stayed put and became the source of pride for the Texans. but we figure the Louisiana regions will have a lot of fun laughing at the Texans if they come and take it away!

We have built a race tire shod cannon for the trophy and we will have it at every event this year to stir up interest and should have photos posted in the next few days.

So, rally the troops and get to them to every event and "Come and Take It!".

Re: Come and Take It! - Update!

After 2 events, it's looking like an upset might be in the making! Red River Region has a small band of raiders willing to travel and take home the trophies! Red River is leading with an average 6.5 points per entry, with Lone Star Region not far behind in second place with 5.87 points per entry. Texas and Houston are still in the hunt with 5.75 and 5.47 pts respectively and their hosted events are right around the corner.

Red River is still on the bubble with only 12 entries so far. To qualify a region must have an average of 5 entries per divisional event. In contrast Houston is leading entries with 27.5 entries per event and they haven't hosted their own event yet! But this competition is only based on highest average points per entry... If Red River brings a combined total of 8 more entires to Houston and Fort Worth, they will be hard to beat!!! Come on Texans! You need to muster the troops and come defend the cannon!

We do have a small number of entries from unknown regions, so take a look at the people below and send me a PM if you know which region they should belong to.

    BATON ROUGE PEARSALL TOTAL AVERAGE
DRIVERS POINTS DRIVERS POINTS DRIVERS POINTS DRIVERS POINTS

Re: Come and Take It! - Update!

Red River continues to roll, bringing a strong contingent to the Houston Divisional and increasing their points lead. At this point probably only Lone Star region can bridge the gap and possibly beat them to claim the trophy. Lone Star kept pace with RR, while the remaining regions dropped back a bit.

The final Divisional in Fort Worth on 8/15-16 will determine which region takes the cannon home for the next year.

Re: Come and Take It! - Update!

Can I petitiion for a recount???

You have Wayne Atkins and Chris Cargill listed as Houston Region for both the Pearsall and the Houston events, and unless they've changed affiliation recently they're both Texas Region homeboys.  Same for Jason McCall in STU.

And the Dormans, even though they were previously in Red River country, are now running with Texas Region but may not have changed their affiliation.

Seems like hanging chads to me ;).

Re: Come and Take It! - Update!

Geez! You just can't find good help anymore!

I'll give you McCall and Wayne, but the Dormans and Cargill didn't list Texas as their home region at the FW tour. I'll try and contact both and let them declare their loyalty...

The change of Wayne and Jason has shaken up the standings a bit and moved Texas Region into a slight lead over Lone Star for second. And I do mean SLIGHT... something like .04 pts. I will post the revised standings on Friday... If the Dormans defect from Red River, we might just have a 3 way dogfight going into the final event!

    Stay tuned!

Re: Come and Take It! - Update!

Chris, according to the National office, is a Houston Region member.

All six million of the Dormans are Red River members.

Yeah, but the National office is always way behind times.  And I hate to lose.

All six million of the Dormans are Red River members.

So does that mean Texas Region can charge them extra for entering our events?  Heck, it works for the folks in Topeka Wink.

Corrected points are posted in the usual place http://sth2.com/COME&TAKE%20IT.htm

With a few misplaced folks moved to Texas, they have moved into second place with a small lead over Lone Star. It's going to take a small miracle to bump Red River out of the lead, so it may just be a big fight for second place.

Everybody needs to bring their A game to Fort Worth!
