Re: A new competitor in DS?
Thanks y'all Erik's really liking all the plushy amenities it has, and bonus (to him ), his street car is now once again faster than my street car...
And if anyone is interested in a 2001 Spa Yellow S2000, we'll be putting one up for sale pretty soon.

Nice car. I nearly held out on buying mine for a 135i. What do you think of the eLSD?

So far the little I've driven it it seems good, but we only picked it up Tuesday night, and at this point it has 500 miles on it, so we really haven't pushed it hard yet. We've been randomly driving around for the past two days to get mileage on it. Should have a better opinion in a few days I'm sure Erik will post something later tonight when he gets home from work.

So far, it seems very trick. It really feels like a car with a LSD, as you can break the rear end and work it with the throttle. I am interested to see how stickier tires affect the system.

Re: A new competitor in DS?
Dying to see how you like it at speed on R comps. It may very well be my next car, especially if it stays in D-stock.

It looked painful. Hopefully Erik or Beth can weigh in on what the prep level of the car was (it could be bone stock with stickies for all I know), but it looked very soft.

Re: A new competitor in DS?
It sure as heck was impressive watching it launch...
IIRC I heard someone state over this weekend it had shocks.. but I have been known to be wrong... many times today alone.
it's 60ft times were matching the R32 and even beating it in some cases. great looking car and it sounds amazing.. love it's growl @ idle.

DA Konis Front sway bar OE wheels with Hoosiers. Alignment, which was changed for each session at Toledo. Erik is not known for leaving a car's setup alone for long... --Andy

Re: A new competitor in DS?
Thanks, Andy... at least I wasn't totally out there on my assesment.
And from the limited time I've known of Erik and his cars, and had pretty much came to that conclusion as well.

Re: A new competitor in DS?
erik made some alignment changes in the rear on sunday that made him slower off the line and arguably slower on course, everyone seemed to find time sunday, including himself, just not as much as the rest of the class/other classes. I expect once the car is a bit more developed (it was mentioned the car had quite a bit of development already) it could put up bigger margin wins on the current cars in class.

Re: A new competitor in DS?
I'm guessing Erik would have done pretty well in a Type R, MazdaSpeed, etc. too. It'll be interesting to see results from a course with more slalom/transitions but without the Pro launch.

You could say that. Or you might also observe that the driver of said car has a closet full of nat'l champ jackets, whereas the rest of the field in DS at Toledo had nary a one. So Erik's car might have actually been *slower* than the others but driven better. And more development might just make it more equal. Until we see more drivers in these cars, we won't know how much is driver and how much is car.
Just a thought. --Andy

Re: A new competitor in DS?
I have no jackets, so I nod to the better driver, I don't doubt his talent one bit, but I still feel if the car was better understood the margin gained sunday (by erik) could have been greater. The fact his 60's got slightly slower on day 2 (a bit over .1 per side) show the margins might have been larger.
At DC the 135 could have won as well, but snow fell .173 short of feinburg in the end. The car is so new, how can we assume its already reached its full potential?
