Re: Peru Tour PAX/RTP Index Results

now before anyone tries to start drawwing conclusions from this, please don't.... The whole weekend was off and on rain with rapidly changing conditions. I was fortunate enough to be able to take advantage of rapidly drying conditions as a second driver on Saturday.

Re: Peru Tour PAX/RTP Index Results

Some heat 1 second drivers got screwed by wet conditions on Sat------3rd runs for some second drivers were wet.

Also heat 2 on Saturday started wet and I believe I think slowly started to dry or not----

Heat 3 took place after a 20 min or so break and conditions were ok

Heat 4  (my heat----conditions were real good)

    --------------------------------------------------------

Sunday........heat 2 second drivers on like the last run---or rather 3rd run got screwed----not too many-----like rain for a short time

    heat 3 was fine

heat 4 light on and off a couple of times------didn't have much effect

    ---------------------------------------------------

Jen---------you drove cleaner than the rest of your class in the wet on Sat, and you were aided by your early #

You also ran good Sunday, but not best---however the rest of the boys couldn't make up the deficit to you they had on Sat

Congrats------you won............Mrs. Marcus Meridith.....and your husband Mr. Jen Meridith did pretty well too.

    -------------------

PS......thanks for the offer to help me at the end of the event........somehow I am always the last one to leave any event local or national

FYI - Here's what the courses looked like in the dry (4th heat) from an EP car.  Sunday's course recycled about half of Saturday's course.

After perusing the pax/rtp results, it is blatantly obvious that the ASP index is much too soft.Wink

Here's Video from Saturday's course (I was marked as a DNF, the only thing I can figure is because of the spin/cone at the finish the captain at corner 5 called a DNF. Tell me if you think I DNF'd in the video...

I'll have a lot more video up later this week including other camera angles from Sunday

    David Lehman:

PS---seriously  I believe a protest might have been filled in SS

There were two competitors, 1 on each day, who showed up late to grid, as the rest of SS was leaving, I believe they were given runs, but marked as DNS. I would assume the protest has to do with this, but I am not sure as I heard this second or third hand.

We don't need to know anything about soft and your ass in once sentence.

Yes. As a real professional announcer (unlike some coughLehmancough), I knew what I was doing when I announced that SS was under appeal. As a fellow jew that attended the U (hey, that rhymes), I am disappointed in you! (another rhyme). By the way... names are always read last in a trophy presentation It should be "and the winner, driving a 2008 Poop Machine out of Tolietville WY.....David Lehman" Not.... "and the winner is David Lehman, driving a 2008 Poop Machine from Tolietville WY" Next time, I expect you to get it right. Until then, your name has been removed from the official jewish autocrossers list......J/K....except names being last part.

This is what I heard, I did not see it as I was announcing, so it may not be 100% accurate. SS was under protest as one driver was not at his car when it was his turn to run. He took the run anyway, but even though it was early in the heat, it would be counted as his second official run as there was already a DSQ in the computer since he was not at the line when instructed. The grid people probalby should not have let him out of grid. He went to the line thinking he was going to just get a DSQ and get two more official timed runs. Not the case. Technically his first run was a DSQ for not going to the line, his second run was when everyone else was taking thei firsts and his last run was when everyone was taking their seconds. His "fourth" run was obviously then thrown out. Its a big mess....... like Lehmans announcing.

Re: Peru Tour PAX/RTP Index Results

So I announced the names first, so what ?

That was the first time I stuck around to announce the winners from the heat I announced, as I usally desire to get back on the road as quickly as possible as I generally have one of the longest drives home--------

Besides the way I see it NAMES are the most important thing---(actually I have no idea what's right)..........and even if I got it backwards and screwed up the Universe as a result......

Wait I kinda like that actually-----I SCREWED UP THE UNIVERSE----

PS----(i was thinking of Shouting out "MAZELTOV" when your name was announced for a trophy I believe)----but I shut my mouth as I was too lazy, and I also thought discretion was the better side of valor.

PPS-----For those that don't know "MAZELTOV" is Hebrew for congratulations

PPPS-----the funniest thing at the WHOLE event was Larry Harts in his Bright Yellow "Smart" car.  I cracked up everytime I saw him in that "golf cart"

    Wheres the video?

That section had a lot of bumps and there were plenty of 3rd heat workers camping out.  I ran my tail off with one other person trying to cover for the three radio guys. lol

So what? SO WHAT!!! Terrible!, Announcers Handbook Violation number 4 (number 1 is don't insult timing, number 2 is don't insult timing, etc, etc). J/K, its something that no one knows about until someone wiser and smarter (me) tells them. Most people applause when they hear the name spoken, so it should always be last thing out of a presenters mouth (depsite the type of public speaking). Geese, newbies.

Long drive. To where? Toledo. You have'nt been home since before the DC Pro!

PS-I see your mazeltov and raise you a lychaym.

Re: Peru Tour PAX/RTP Index Results

That was fast work, Rick! Thank you!Gift  PAX was what I was most interested in. I actually beat a couple people on Sunday (well, at least if I consider myself STU: Pending Removal of Exclusion... )

As to conditions, Satuday for run group 2 was a mess - standing puddles all over the course. My video shows water splashing up on to the windshield as my nose must have dipped into the water.

My favorite line from Lehman's announcing was when I finished my rain run with one of my embarassing times and he tries to justify it because I don't have R-comps like everyone else - then stops to think about the standing water on the course and says - well actually that should be a benefit in these conditions. Stick out tongue

It was a fun introduction to National events. I look forward to next year.

Re: Peru Tour PAX/RTP Index Results

Woot! I'll take 3rd in ASP and 16th on PAX in an under prepared BSP car Hmm

Although after this weekend I'm starting to think it'll fit in ASP better than BSP, we'll see after the Toledo Pro, i'm sure i'll be humbled.

Good event, although i could have done without the rain on my 3rd run on sunday, i had to lean over the steering wheel while waiting in line to keep it dry!

I look forward to running with the ASP guys in Toledo this comming weekend!

    Alex---

You were so fast out of the box, that when I heard you first time announced, that I almost threw-up.

I have 3 events in ASP already, so I might run SM2 to help them make a class.  I am so good now that I am not scared of Dr. Strelniecks in SM2 at all......

Provided that he enters the bone stock 135i in SM2 of course.

PS----Welcome to ASP Pro Solo...............Let it be my pleasure to introduce you to the Cuban and Jr.

PPS----don't worry about that giant cloud of smoke that you see as you pull your car up to the line.....your car didn't just break.....it's just a Vette streching it's legs

PPPS----good luck.........see you and your crazy Monkey teammate, Jason, on Friday

PPPPS----Hey matzoh eater.....I see your lychaym and raise you a meshugga (sp ?.......means crazy person)

I'm also still working on my trophy presentation skills, this was the second time I've done the trophy presentation, I'm far more comfortable announcing the heats than the awards so far, but hopefully I can get a few more events under my belt for practice.

Quote of the day from Mr Lehman while announcing, just after entering the anounce vehicle and trying to remove his raingear with the assistance of someone else in the vehicle.

"My assistant has his hands in my lap and is working my zipper"

    Nice.

Especially since FJr was in impound with a remote announce PA speaker right there.
