Dasmopar:I see Timothy McIntosh went 94.028 over 2 days and that was fast enough to win all the stock classes except for SS at the Peru National Tour. That time would have been 4th in SS and 2nd in SSL. Is this normal or a fluke? Between the CS time and the ASP Solstice with 18X11 CCW's with 315 tires all around I'm seriously thinking I need a solstice GXP or just a N/A one. Is there a down side to these cars aside from having no room, and installing a ZOK kit?
Tim McIntosh is a very good driver (as is Dan). If you look at the times that he's turned (as well as Dan Stone) in GL Division and CenDiv events over the past couple of years, you'll see that C-Stock is capable of fast times. If memory serves me correctly, when Kevin Dietz won CS at Nationals in '06, he had the fastest PAX time as well.
Downsides of the car is that there really is very little room in the trunk, the interior trim scratches and mars very easily, and some of the controls are not very laid out.
You can order a car with Z0K. It is a factory option. If you want one out of stock you may need to contact someone like Phoenix Performance (Pennsylvania). Build volumes on the Z0K are very low and they may be "batch built" (not sure). Also, Z0K locks out all other options (think no A/C, no power windows, etc.).
The car that Tim and Dan drove is a stripper without Z0K. Last year I recall it not having been retrofitted with the Z0K package. You ought to ask Dan about the current state of the car.
Go to solsticeforum.com; they've got an active autocross/competition section.
