    Is CS really this fast?

I see Timothy  McIntosh  went 94.028 over 2 days and that was fast enough to win all the stock classes except for SS at the Peru National Tour. That time would have been 4th in SS and 2nd in SSL. Is this normal or a fluke? Between the CS time and the ASP Solstice with 18X11 CCW's with 315 tires all around I'm seriously thinking I need a solstice GXP or just a N/A one. Is there a down side to these cars aside from having no room, and installing a ZOK kit?

Tim McIntosh is a very good driver (as is Dan). If you look at the times that he's turned (as well as Dan Stone) in GL Division and CenDiv events over the past couple of years, you'll see that C-Stock is capable of fast times. If memory serves me correctly, when Kevin Dietz won CS at Nationals in '06, he had the fastest PAX time as well.

Downsides of the car is that there really is very little room in the trunk, the interior trim scratches and mars very easily, and some of the controls are not very laid out.

You can order a car with Z0K. It is a factory option. If you want one out of stock you may need to contact someone like Phoenix Performance (Pennsylvania). Build volumes on the Z0K are very low and they may be "batch built" (not sure). Also, Z0K locks out all other options (think no A/C, no power windows, etc.).

The car that Tim and Dan drove is a stripper without Z0K. Last year I recall it not having been retrofitted with the Z0K package. You ought to ask Dan about the current state of the car.

Go to solsticeforum.com; they've got an active autocross/competition section.

The classes significantly affected by rain were: ASL, BS, ESL, FSL, GSL, HS, STUL, ESP, FSPL, BML, FPL, GPL, SM, BM, DM, EML, FM

I can back up that Dan Stone is super, super good. Solstice would be a nice car to own. That ASP Solstice looked great out on the course (obviously great driver too) - super smooth.

EDIT: oh wait, Dasmopar - I know you. (And, you know all about the rain... )

Yes it did but I think HS, and BS (2nd heat) where the only ones to deal with serious wet conditions and in the 2nd heat we still got atleast one dry run in.

Re: Is CS really this fast?

Hey! I am selling my factory built 06 ZOK all set up to win Nats this year! This car is F A S T. Get FTD's!!! with caveat's of course.

And, yes, CS will straight time SS/AS/BS and many other classes if the course is a certain way(no power sections) and it is cold enough out to not let the SP cars get warm tires.(Oh! I had a codriver that day and bags and my buddies didn't.)  Scroll to the bottom: http://bscc.net/content/view/114/10/

If a ZO6 can't get the power down on a course, the Sol can run right with it since it can pull just as many lateral G's and brake and slalom right with it or better. If you make a "fun" course where the ZO6 gets to use some power, then the Sol is dead.

Still not outfitted with the Z0K suspension.  I'm amazed at how quick he is in that car, because the GXP was a pig without the Z0K parts on it.  Although we did have stock shocks too.

Re: Is CS really this fast?

I ran 1st heat never got the A6s over 90 degrees.  Times would have been much lower in AS had they had more heat and grip out of them.  We also got rain on our last runs of heat 1 day 1. I have raced against Dan Stone a few times and hes pretty fast. On a speed maint course, he can get very close to AS on scratch times with a good run. It we get to open our cars up, there are bigger differences. The Peru course was more on the side of speed maint.

Oh you had the CR there? Thats a really good looking car!  I know this event doesn't hold alot of water since we did have rain coming and going all weekend.

Thanks!  I think the CR is a car you either love or hate. Our local region used to host the Peru National Tour many years back and rain always seemed to be an issue.  I've heard stories of cones actually floating away! lol
