OWNER DESCRIPTION: (Paul Strickland)
"This is a 1997 Miata that I had professionally installed at JC
Auto Spec with a new built motor and supercharger that I used at a few
local autocrosses. The car is very fast and reliable, puts down about
250horses and 230torque to the wheels. Been my pride and joy the past
year but due to circumstances out of my control must sell."
MY $.02: (Dan Pedroza)
This can be an INSTANT XP contender this year at Nationals. With
just a few tweaks/dialing-in it will be in the top 5 at Nationals. The
car is set up very similarly to Glenn Ellingson's current XP car in the
Bay Area with a built motor, the only difference being it's not a
stroker 2.0L, but it is a built engine. My only experience driving it
competitively was at a rain event, so no real chance to put down power.
The engine can handle much more boost but the tires are the limiting
factor even with the 13" Panasports. These wheels may work really well
with the new 255 13" A6s that are coming out if the Hoosier slicks are
bit too pricey. I would have jumped at the chance to co-drive this car
with Paul at Nationals one year, but he just didn't grab the Solo bug
like the rest of us. Easily an instant contender and a killer price.
The Car:
Motor: Newly built engine has 25k miles, Carrillo A-beam Rods,
Wiseco forged pistons 9:1 compression, new solid lifters in place of
hydraulic lifters, ported and polished head, 1mm oversized intake and
exhaust valves, Link standalone engine managment system.
Supercharger: also has about 25k miles, 2.0L Twinscrew Opcon
supercharger with frontmount intercooler, custom pulley for 15psi
boost, also have stock 10psi pulley,
Chassis: Full Flying Miata exhaust and headers, Tein SS coilovers
(18kmiles on them), Kosei K1 Racing 15x7 wheels with 215/50 r15 BFG G
Force sport tires 50% tread, also 13x11 Panasport wheels with Hoosier
racing slicks good for a few more races, Flying Miata Butterly Brace
with frame rails, Hard dog 4point rollbar, and FM front swaybar.
