    1997 ACR Neon for Sale

I am the only owner of this car it is all factory and all numbers matching, the only thing I have done to modify the car is add the AM/FM/MP3 player with two speakers up front including passive crossover’s, amp, and two 6x9s in the rear with a 12" sub, Driving lights all this was installed at the dealer level. The Pager Alarm was installed later by a factory installer.

She runs great with well over 45 MPG on the Highway and 35MPG in town. My Neon uses no oil and has never let me down or failed to start in any weather. This car is tight and operates like the day I picked it up. Oil has been switched to synthetic at 25,000km and has been that way since.

My Neon was on the track once just to see what it would do, well it was a quick 15 seconds but the tires spun right into 3rd gear. I'm sure it would be even better with the right tires. The car is in great shape it has never been hit and it has been parked winters.

ACR package was available on Neons equipped with either the 150 hp DOHC (Coupe) or 132 hp SOHC (Sedan) engine and included power assisted four wheel disc brakes, unlimited speed engine controller, severe duty front hubs, heavy duty radiator, competition suspension with KONI/Mopar adjustable struts, aluminum wheels, a structural oil pan, tinted glass, mirrors, body colored front and rear fascias, power assisted steering and a tachometer.

I didn't know they ran drag races on ice?

Was that 13 seconds on an 1/8th mile?

Hard to believe that it would be that fast on a 1/4.

I'm confused...Castrol Raceway (used to be known as Bud Park) is a 1/4 mile track.

Stock ACR neons of that generation ran between 15.0 and 15.6 from the factory in the 1/4.

35mpg city/ 45mpg highway? Spins tires all the way through third gear?  Sure about that?  I've owned three neons including a 97 ACR coupe and I have to call BS on those claims.  Good luck selling your car.

The best I got was 49mpg Canadian and as for spinning tires yep no problem but Im am trained to drive so that might help as well and I was shifting at 7500 rpm not sissy shifting.

Divide that by 1.6 and you'll get the correct MILES per gallon, not KILOMETERS per gallon. That would show about 30.6 mpg, which is about right for that vehicle.

The stock rev limiter on a first gen neon ACR was 7200rpm.

Spinning the tires in third gear is no problem (in the snow, it is Canada after all, eh)

omg no I travel on the freeway at 70-75 mph use only hi-test hi octain fuel in town the average is around 35-40 mph and I do know the difference between kilometers and miles per hour, I think if any of you owned one of these cars and drove it on the street you would all be aware of what these cars could do.

Re: 1997 ACR Neon for Sale

Somebody knows nothing about ACR's the rev limiter, airbag and radio delete was part of the package on a Neon ACR in 1997, so I have had this car at 8000 rpm on a few occasions including the track.

http://www.allpar.com/neon/neonacr.html http://faq.neons.org/faq/FAQ_M.html so here are a couple of links for you guys this car is not a coupe or an R/T it's an ACR with DOHC please feel free to read the articles....

OK...I'll tell him.  Most of the names on the SCCA National Champions list (see the above link) are active on this forum.   Wink

(Oh yeah, I'll have to drag out my old in-car Autocross videos to see if I was bouncing off the limiter in my 95 ACR, or if that was just my imagination.  Could be...I'm getting older.  :)  )

PS - Looks like a nice car, good luck with the sale.   Might help to post an asking price though.

Maybe it wasn't spinning the tires in third, just showing signs of clutch slippage.  I have not seen any Neon that could spin tires in 3rd and run 15.2 in the 1/4.  And if tires were spinning in third, they would have to have very little grip.
