Yay for Sam Strano destroying everyone this year so my PAX (FS) goes from 0.809 to 0.821...

    Re: 2008 PAX

Yes, because it's a percentage you can run a slower time with a lower PAX and still be "fast".

For example, on a 60 second run:

    with a PAX of 0.809 - 48.54 pax time

    with a PAX of 0.821 - 49.26 pax time

Which is why stock cars have lower paxes than street prepared and why AMOD has a PAX of 1

*and why Brian says Drew runs a cheater PAX.*

    Re: 2008 PAX

Yeah, looks like FS took the worst hit.  GS and DS both changed a lot. The only things sort of constant were the prepared classes.  FSAE got slower (wtf?)

    Re: 2008 PAX

So FS now has a higher pax than DS or ES?  How does that make sense?  Why didn't they just move the new Mustangs or whatever cars they were worried about into a higher class?

    Re: 2008 PAX

I wish they would get rid of the Shelby GT in FS, but I think the ruling was that it was too slow for SS.  Also, FS cars are traditionally RWD "muscle cars", so it just fit there...

The Prep classes stayed nearly the same because the same cars/names won. JT for example.

FSAE? - we're just waiting until MSU kicks ----- get the new car running ----- lets see what ya'll can do.

A Shelby doesn't really "fit" in any other class. Put it in ES or DS and you'd completely change the competitive balance of those classes. It would almost certainly not be competitive in BS or AS (and wouldn't really fit there either). I think it was just time for FS to get faster. The same thing is due to happen to other classes too. In a stock class, a top car has probably an average of ~3-4 years of dominance before something else comes along to knock it off. It usually works pretty well because of how the product life cycle of cars goes.

As for the STU PAX, I'm hoping that I won't care! wink-wink nudge-nudge

    Re: 2008 PAX

Actually, The worst class to get hit is GS. Here is a table I put together. It tells you how much harder (faster) you have to drive or how much faster you have to drive or make your car with your hard earned cash (or your parents, or your girlfriends etc cash) than in 2007 in percentage to stay at the same spot assuming everyone paxes out the same.
