By paraphrasing what Todd Cholmondeley and Butch Kummer have mentioned on other forums basically they have been working on a program that recognizes the nation’s best IT drivers. This will be determined by a point series based on a combination of the results of one's divisional series, the I.T.SPEC*tacular and the ARRC by GRM. This is similar to the National Triple Crown (divisional champion, June Sprints, Runoffs) but you don't need to win every leg, so a "champion" would be declared in every nationally-recognized IT class.
They are looking at starting the program for the 2009 racing season. A preliminary set of rules has been sent out to the "Triple Crown Advisory Committee" and will eventually be sent out for public comment. At this time they are looking for one person from each SCCA division that (1) is part of the IT community, (2) wants to help build IT participation, and (3) is capable of putting aside personal agendas to help do that. They are looking for enthusiastic voices that can work in a team environment. The SEDiv is represented by yours truly; NEDiv and GLDiv currently have at least one member, so we are really looking for someone from the other divisions that are not yet represented.
If you're interested in being part of the IT Triple Crown Advisory Committee, either respond in this thread or send me a PM stating your interest and qualifications. Not much is required – maybe ten hours as we establish the rules then a few hours in your division promoting the program and answering questions. We'd like to keep things going, so if you ARE interested (or know someone you think would be a good representative) let me/us know by March 15, 2008.
We're also looking for sponsors as well, so if you're interested in THAT aspect let us know, too. And no, there's no time limit on that!
