Rule change proposal from the July Fast Track?

Rule change proposal from the July Fast Track?

    FastTrack - June:
The previously published rule change proposal concerning motor mounts (ref. 08-166) will be recommended to the BOD by the SEB.

I just saw this in the latest Fast Track and I am wondering when the rule change proposal took place? I was under the impression that this rule was added year or so ago and it was already in working. Now even though I have followed all of the Fast Tracks, I have never seen anything about this proposal for change.

Anyone out there that can shed some light on this issue?

    Thanks!

Maybe this is the one from the April FasTrack?

    • The following rule change proposals have been recommended by the SPAC and are published for member comment:
    o Change 15.10.J to read:
“15.10.J Engine mounts may be replaced, but must attach in the factory location(s) without additional modification or changes. Engine position may not be changed.

Hydraulic shock type rear engine locators, or bobble struts may be replaced by manufacturer’s performance part, or aftermarket replacement part. This part must retain factory dimensions and attachment points, including factory design. (Example: If factory locator/bobble strut is gas or hydraulic piston type, replacement part must be gas or hydraulic piston type.)”

    Howdy,

So the upshot here is that we can use solid motor mounts in 2009?

That is what was removed from the original rule. It looks like someone important needed to fit his/her new engine in there the correct way so the rule got softened up! Smile

Just to start one of the rumors maybe, this might allow some of the BSP cars to get help from stronger brothers...

How is this proposal much different from what we have today?  I read 15.10.J as currently allowing you to replace all the rubber in a mount with Delrin, PEEK, or any other hard plastic.  Is that really much different from a solid metal mount, as the proposal would allow?

Re: Rule change proposal from the July Fast Track?

The major difference is that amount of metal can be increased now which is something you couldn't do it before! That is what led me to believe that someone might need some extra allowance for their swap!! Smile

Gee, I sure wish that somebody important needed to swap in aftermarket radiator into SP.

    :)

We are going to have to wait until 2009 to get some radiator sanity.
