    Memphis Part II

Anyone down for Memphis on July 27.  I heard its on the road coarse.  Maybe I can get them to get their stuff together so we can get more than 4 runs.

Maybe suggest making work assignments out before announcing the run groups.  Just something I noticed when Brian and I had to volunteer ourselves for a worker assignment.

Probably not going to make it to Memphis this time around.

I guess that puts me down for Memphis.

    Re: Memphis Part II

Shreveport runs at Red River Raceway that same day.  Best  events in the south.  Huge parking lot with nationals level/style courses.  Events are usually over by 3 or 4.  Most of all there are several drivers that have won or trophied at national events.  Good drivers and cars in F Stock, H Stock and STX.

Maybe worth putting in your location in mapquest and driving to Shreveport.

Did I say fast following courses?  One of the ASP guys is designing the course next time so it will be a little more open than usual.  Lots of Mustangs at RRR events.

    Re: Memphis Part II

Well with $4 gallon, hotel in crappy part of town, long annoying drive that the cars almost didn't make, hot as hades, and 4 runs, I don't think I will be back until I hear something good about it.  But hey road course=cool.

I will be in Columbus though.

That is a long ways but you've got me scheming. Is it a good asphault lot?

    Re: Memphis Part II

Yes, and it is a good bunch of good drivers.  The F Stock driver won one of the days of our tour last year.  The STX driver and co-driver have trophied at national tour stops.  The H Stock guy was one out of the trophies at nationals last year but paxed like ~70th out 1200.  There are a few guys from the other LA regions that make to the events that are real good drivers.

Also, Jeremey that won SS at our pro-tour this year came last time and can probably be talked into coming back over from Dallas.  It is a good field, with good cars, on a good lot with course design.  I have never been and been choked off with tight stuff.

Come over Saturday and you can stay with me and my family about 45 minutes from the event the next day.  My mom and dad live close so I try to make most of there events.  I can go run at RRR and be home before I can running in Little Rock due to the quick events and 6 runs. 60 to 70 second courses.

     Did I say BIG LOT.

Video of me at the 1st event of the year:

that is definitely a nice lot and it looks like they do very well with the course designs. I'll definitely look into going. Drew where are you? pack your bags.

    Re: Memphis Part II

I will be there.  Asher may come too.  We will not be in a PAX machine because we are out of tires for the shelby.  We aren't going to nationals, so we are running the rest of the year in the m3.

Any of you guys are in Jackson, it is a straight shot across.  Starkville is like 360 miles Huh?  The drag strip is about 35 minutes north of Shreveport.

Come on!  How can "I be the man if I cannot beat the man" at Nationals!?!   Woooooo!   Sorry to hear this, Kerry.  I was looking forward to seeing you guys at Heartland Park.  I am going but not sure yet if Andy is co-driving in the Shelby or if he will be in a Formula Vee.

Just got through with Evo school 1 & 2 and have 5 local events over the next seven weeks plus Midiv 4 in the middle which also features a Friday test & tune.  Both of last year's nationals courses will be used during the three days so that should show me something I have not seen before.  We'll see if I have learned anything.

Also, I just put a set of Yokohama Advan Neovas on the Shelby for play days and the ride increased dramatically.  Not a bad street tire for autocross.

Lost your blog address.  Shoot me an email at doctor_fun_@earthlink.net.  Take care.

    Re: Memphis Part II

Some things have come up on boths sides for us to miss nationals.  Both of our works are taking more of our time.  I would love to claim money but I am sure I could change a few things and go.  I was going to email you and ask to co-drive when Asher said he probably could not go.  After thinking about it, I desided to just sit this year out.  I paid the cars and the school loans off and there is only a little left before we owe for nothing but the house.

Hopefully, we will set the car up and hit the national events next year.  We only drove the Shelby 4 times (stl included) this year.

Here is a link to a thread you should read

    http://www.autoxforum.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=4246

You will have to join the web site to read it but it talks about "the line" and is probably something that made some difference in our times at stl.  I doubt I drove as fast as you did but I cut distance.  It is a good read.

    Re: Memphis Part II

I feel your pain, kerry...I won't be running Nationals this year either...I will be pretty much down for a good 6 months or more from autocrossing heavily in the Mustang as I just shelled out a bunch of money for another purchase...

Diamonds are a very expensive purchase, so i am out of tire/car money for a while...but to take a page out of Ron White's Blue Collar comedy, the diamond definitely shut her up Smile

That is better than autocross.  Congratulations.

Kerry, congratulations on making one of the most interesting threadjacks ever. Well, aside from Lehman, but he's in a league of his own.

Congrats Frakenberry. Glad to know you "shut her up".

    Re: Memphis Part II

Thanks for jacking my thread Kerry.  But if you say Red River is better than the road coarse I guess I should believe you.  I might be in for a change of mind.  Will there be more than 4 runs?  I don't have a huge budget to waste on a  3 hour drive just to put 4 minutes of track time under my belt.  Is this a two day or 1 day event?

Wow, Bell, you're absolutely right.  It took me a while to figure out what you meant because I honestly forgot that this wasn't a thread about the RRR event.  That's how superbly Kerry jacked the thread.
