I dont know why, but I have always liked driving in the rain.  It has been at least 2 years (that I can remember) since we have held an event in the rain.  Plus it would be alot cooler if it would rain on a summer event.  Is anyone else ready for a rain event? I understand this would almost wipe out the open tire class except for the touring classes.

It depends on how much it rains.  If it's just wet without a lot of standing water, open tire will still be faster.  I've done 4 or 5 "wet" events on R comps, but I've never done a "deluge" event...so I'm not sure how bad they get when you're driving through ponds.

hoosiers grip better than street tires until they hydro plane. granted, they hyrdroplane sooner than street tires due to the whole lack of  tread thing.

Yeah ill be down for a rain event lets see i got a great full rain suit two new excellent dunlop star spec rear tires coming in the mail and a will to maintain grip on a slick surface... i think i got it made lol...  Let the rain fall baby...  Rain = Cool weather

Obviously I'd really like to have a rainy event in the STi. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for the august event to be a wet one.

I took FTD last Sunday in the rain at MMP in the Solo Vee on Hoosier R25 compound slicks.  It was dicy, but fun.  It did start to dry at the end of the day, but Brandon and I were contending for FTD all day.  Yes there was some puddling, and the poor thing is still filthy, sitting in the garage waiting for the temps to drop below 10,000 degrees for cleanup.  Open wheel on slicks in the rain is a real study in counter steering and throttle control.
