    Sound Measurements at Seneca?

Is there anyway to find out what my sound levels were at the Seneca Pro?

I think they were measuring them for all cars to collect some data for future potential sound restriction rules.

My highly trained ear registered your car at "pleasantly rumbly" but it was definitely the loudest, fartiest super stock car.

Then again, you ran when that horrific CSP Miata was on course, and it's possible my ears were filled with blood by the time you came by.

Hmmm...could I get you to rephrase that to, "...but it was definitely the loudest, meanest super stock car."?  Fartiest is raising images of Lehman....

Maybe the blue tape should have been over my ears.  :)

we're discussing the possibility of enforcing sound limits at future events.  nothing real strict, but there were a couple of cars at the Pro and at Divisionals this past weekend that were excessively loud.

    any thoughts.

I question the Sunday measurements.  My car has consistantly run 90-95 dbs but on Sunday, in L2, it was measured at 100-105??? WTF?  There's no way it was as loud as Gideon's CSP Miata.  Did you think so?

    Re: Sound Measurements at Seneca?

i don't remember your car being particularly loud, and i've never heard and autocross car as loud as the Miata!!!  the readings from Sunday are certainly suspect.  we kind of feel like some of the cars were excesively loud just because they could be.  many of the cars that ran at our Pro and that came to Divisionals, also run at Devens where the sound limit is 90db.  we don't have a need for such strict limits... but 108 db is way too loud!

To Gideon's defense, the car was not intentionally loud.  It suffered an exhaust breakage and basically ran w/o anything for most of the event. His busted exhaust was laying in his paddock space while his car was on-course.  Yes, it was crazy loud, even at idle.

    Scott, er Ted-----

Your car is annoyingly loud.  You need to put your stock muffler back on IMHO.  You are gaining NOTHING from getting rid of your muffler----except a headache.

Wow a 90dB limit??  I bet a lot of stock cars will top that.

i think it is 90 @ 75 feet instead of 50. or maybe it is 92?

    Re: Sound Measurements at Seneca?

It's 90dB at 75' at Devens.  So the 50' numbers here are drastically higher than a comparable measure at Devens.
