    ITB's in Street Prepared

I've recently started looking into ITB's for the DSP 'R' and got to wondering if the gains justify the cost. However, I have no idea what type of gains one could even expect, and at what point in the power range. I know many, including Hollis, tried ITB's on their Miatae. Would any of you like to share (offline is ok, i can keep a secret) what, if any, power difference there was between the ITB's and a standard single TB setup? I remember Tipple saying they cost power on his CSP civic because of the cam timing. Anyone else have any anecdotal evidence they wouldn't mind sharing?

I looked into it for my Civic;  not enough compression to take advantage of the ITB's.  I discovered that they would be great on a "built" motor, but that would move me to SM!  Not my idea of fun..

    Re: ITB's in Street Prepared

I've looked into this a little bit for my E30. Needing to get the car done, and start autoxing again, I've not been that serious as it's not that big a priority.

General consensus for us seems to be good throttle response, loss of low rpm power/tq, and tiny gains up top. On a stock engine. Built engines can make more use of them.

FWIW the throttle response IMO is most likely due average throttle blade position vs throttle pedal position.........You could have the same effect while keeping a longer runner intake with a oversized throttle body.

    Nate,

There was a guy that did ITB's on his DSP GSR from NJ in the '01-'02 timeframe, but his name escapes me.  I think he did dyno time with Chris Shenfield, so you may want to ping Chris.

As I remember, he did not make much, if any, more power than Mike Neary did with a larger TB and stock intake manifold.  However, I thought I remember that the condition of his engine was questionable vs the condition of Mike's.  You might talk to Neary as well.  This is from my questionable memory so, take it as you will. Crap, I forgot all about Matt. Thanks for the reminder, I'll ping Chris and I'm pretty sure I still have Matt's contact info. Thanks!

I asked the same question of a couple different local tuning shops. They both said they wont produce very much power and tuning them can be troublsome and time consuming. Because the motor is stock.

This is something I am interested to look at, too.

    I have a FSP 3.
