    Thoughts on the 1-eventer group...

I'm curious to hear some general feedback.

This will be my first Pro Finale and I'm in the 1 eventer group. I understand how the group will work regarding pax, but I'm curious what others think about it. How the pro pax will affect outcome. If you think its a waist of time for some classes, etc.

I have no real opinion about it. I understand the Pro ST pax is not good, so if nothing else...this might turn out to be a "warm-up" or "practice" for Nationals for me.

Its all about having fun anyway...right? Yes

The entry list has become quite interesting to say the least:

    General Feedback:

    1) You can win money.

    2) Pro Index may be a little off...

    3) It's great practice for Nationals on the same surface.

    3) GJ in a C6 Z51 Coupe is going to beat Chris in the C6 Z06, and it's not because of the driver....

Re: Thoughts on the 1-eventer group...

We're going just to get more practice on the surface and to sort our car out... I don't even know what the ProSolo PAX is, so I wouldn't know who it favors.  You also have to remember that we are going to run 1st heat...

Is he really beating him if he doesn't show up because he got rid of the C6Z06? I'm not saying he has yet, but he was threatening it pretty darn good last weekend, I wouldn't be surprised if it is already gone.

I offered to trade him straight up.

STS Pro PAX is not bad.  Not as soft as DS, FS, DSP, BSP or DP.  But not bad.  You'll do fine.

So after being told that you absolutely HAD to attend 2 pro's to run the Finale it looks like AGAIN that's not the case.

Wanna know how to get more people to run? Get on the same page from Jan 1 :(  If I had known this I would have gone to Arkansas.

Re: Thoughts on the 1-eventer group...

What is the drawback of putting the one eventers into the regular class? I'm sure it would help some of the regular classes avoid being bumped. Seems like it would be easier to win some money in the one eventer class (especially with an easy pax) then in the regular classes. Has money ever been on the line at a national level event directly based on pax like this before?

Re: Thoughts on the 1-eventer group...

I think they should leave the 1 eventers in their respective classes and just seperate out anyone qualified for the "season" championship after the event is done.

Points.  If you have X number of points going into the Finale, and at the Finale a 1-eventer that is not eligible for the Series Championship finishes ahead of you, "taking" that points-position away....if that is the difference between 1-2-3 for the overall points Championship, then that's a pretty big deal.  Happened last year.

It would be VERY simple to exclude the 1eventers when calculating "Season Championship" points for those that qualified.

As a 1 eventer, I could win the Finale, but not the season championship because I wouldnt get any Finale points. Its not hard....they do it for the divisional series all the time.......

The problem I have with that is that most of the contingency awards for the finale are doubled, or more, over a regular Pro. So someone who did not put in the time, effort or money to qualify should not have a shot at the "big payday". imho

On the other hand, if a person does not beat the one eventer, they don't deserve the money anyway. Stick out tongue

Re: Thoughts on the 1-eventer group...

With 22 people in the one eventer's class, we're already up to over $600 in payout.  It will be interesting to look back after it's over and see if the winners of this class end up clearing more money than they would have in the open class.  Anybody know how the payout is going to be divided?  All to the winner, or top 3, 5 , or whatever?

I'm really only doing it to get the seat time in the sandbox.  The incremental cost of running the Pro is pretty small, so it's a great value for the seat time.  Having the cash payout in the class definately adds to the level of competition, and should make it an interesting race.

Having run on index in the P1 class, I will say that index classes like this will require both skill and luck to end up on top.  The indexes are obviously not perfect and are highly course and weather dependent.

Maybe they could devise a seperate payout for the Season Championship results vs the event results?

I really have no idea, just thinking out loud.............Tongue Tied

They do that now. There is the single payout for the Finale, which is more than double of a regular Pro. Then the season end awards, which are also very generous.
