LINCOLN, Neb. (Sept. 9, 2016) – The fourth and final day of competition concluded Friday at the 44th Tire Rack SCCA Solo Nationals, presented by Garmin VIRB, at Lincoln Airpark in Nebraska. As such, an additional 33 class titles have been handed out amongst more than 625 racers that took part in the second half of the weeklong event.

All told, 70 classes were contested during the week, with the first 37 champions named on Wednesday. Unofficially, more than 1,300 drivers from throughout the United States participated in the 2016 affair, widely considered to be the largest motorsports event in the world. The previous high-water mark for the Tire Rack SCCA Solo Nationals was set in 2015 with 1,228 racers pounding around the two, twisty courses laid out across taxiways of Lincoln Airpark.

LINCOLN, Neb. (Sept. 8, 2016) – An entirely new group of racers began their two-day competition Thursday at the 44th Tire Rack Solo Nationals presented by Garmin VIRB. Cooler than previous days in the week, the second set of participants were greeted with partly sunny skies and a slight breeze blowing from the north as they headed out on the West and East courses, designed respectively by Marcus Merideth and John Hunter, at Lincoln Airpark in Nebraska.

LINCOLN, Neb. (Sept. 7, 2016) – The first 37 winners of the 2016 Tire Rack Solo Nationals, presented by Garmin VIRB, received their trophies Wednesday night in Lincoln, Nebraska, along with some special awards honoring members of the SCCA Solo community.  The Solo Cup was awarded to the Berry family: parents Tom and Theresa, and their three daughters Christine, Heather and Lisa. The Solo Cup is presented to Sports Car Club of America members who have made an outstanding contribution to the Solo events program. Winners are selected by the Solo Events Board from nominations submitted by the membership at large.

 LINCOLN, Neb. (Sept. 7, 2016) – Dawn broke with gray, overcast skies for the second day of competition at the 44th Tire Rack Solo Nationals, presented by Garmin VIRB, at Lincoln Airpark in Nebraska. Things were dry as the masses headed out for morning course walks, but that didn't hold as the rain began coming down during Heat 1 runs.
LINCOLN, Neb. (Sept. 6, 2016) – The opening day of competition for the 44th Tire Rack Solo Nationals, presented by Garmin VIRB, began under blue skies with a good breeze blowing from the south. The West and East courses at Lincoln Airpark in Nebraska, designed respectively by Marcus Merideth and John Hunter, were dry and ready for the 37 classes competing on day one of the Sports Car Club of America event.
TOPEKA, Kan. (August 31, 2016) – The 2016 SCCA U.S. Majors Tour is over. In all, upwards of 3,000 competitors took to the track this year during 26 race weekends held throughout the United States. And now that the season is done, Nationwide Points Champions can be crowned.
ELKHART LAKE, Wis. (July 30, 2016) – After a scorching SCCA U.S. Majors Tour event at New Jersey Motorsports Park last week, terrific weather has enveloped racers this weekend at the SCCA Cat Majors at Road America hosted by the Milwaukee Region in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.

Taking advantage of terrific conditions was Touring 2 racer Matt Slavens in his 997 Porsche. In the opening race of the day, Slavens had an interesting battle early with a man accustomed to winning, Mark Boden in his M3 BMW. Boden had the lead at the start, but Slavens was right in his shadow and able to attain the top spot by lap five. Ultimately, he got the win.

TOPEKA, Kan. (July 26, 2016) – The 2016 SCCA Tire Rack Wilmington Championship Tourwas on fire with hot competition burning up the concrete in each of the five heats this past weekend at Wilmington Air Park in Wilmington, Ohio, with a total of 360 registered entrants blazing through the high-speed course designed by Danny Popp. The Cincinnati Region executed the event without a hitch even with so many competitors.
MILLVILLE, New Jersey (July 24, 2016) – While an old WWII warbird circled above the 2.25-mile circuit, racers Sunday squared off below during the second day of competition at theSCCA U.S. Majors Tour at New Jersey Motorsports Park hosted by the South Jersey Region in Millville, New Jersey. Because the venue began existence in 1941 as an Army Air Field gunnery school for fighter pilots, it was a fitting location for SCCA aces to battle it out for victory.
MILLVILLE, New Jersey (July 23, 2016) – Saturday's SCCA U.S. Majors Tour at New Jersey Motorsports Park in Millville, New Jersey, was marked by two things: big racing and big heat. But with this being the last weekend of competition in the Northeast Conference's 12-round season, and championships on the line, many a competitor put discomfort aside and instead focused on the task at hand.
